What are the specs of your laptop? Also, what was going on in game before it crashes?

And IIRC, L4D2 does take about 8gb on the hdd.

Could be a Steam issue or faulty drivers.

You could try open Steam games tab, right click on Left 4 Dead 2, select properties.
Then open local files tab and select "Verify integrety of game cache".
If that failes, try doing the same steps but "delete local files" instead and redownload.

L4D2 takes up 6.34GB of space on my HDD, but that is with a 200mb or so custom map added.

I had this kind of error, however only when just starting up a game (either single or multiplayer). To fix it, I went to C:\Windows\CSC\ , then click on the folder inside and you will get an error message asking for permission. If you have an error, then it will also say that you don't have adequate permissions to enter. So right click on the folder, click on properties, click on the Security tab, click on Advanced, click on the Owner tab, click on Edit, and finally change the owner to the admin account. Follow instructions and the folder should be enabled. This managed to fix my problem.

    hahahhaha...

wow. clearly the game is crashing because you are using a hacked no-steam version. what a moron. amazing.

i wondered why he thought the size of the game might be the issue in the original post. what a joke.

i think that might be ban worthy.
