    Hi there.

Running XPS 1530 laptop, and I managed to change the resolution on the TV to something it cannot read or figure out, and when I am in the NVIDIA modes and i try and function F8, everything is fine when it is clone, or dual screen, but as soon as I have just the TV as the screen it reads whatever the res is that it cant and will just say out of range or sometimes come up with a garbled screen which I have tried to memorize to try and "fix" it but so far no good.

Unfortunately if you change the TV resolution in any of the other modes (with the laptop working at the same time) the resolution is fine and changable, however I have yet to figure out how to force it in TV mode to go back to say 800 x 600 or something it can read.

    Very frustrating, any suggestions ?

Try going to Nvidia control panel and changing the resolution from there.

its an ACER TV and it finally rescanned by itself one time to 1028 x 768 so I was then able to adjust it to a resolution that would work.

What is really weird is if I do it in clone mode it runs 1440 x 900 flawless, however as soon as I make it the only display it will not run in that resolution.

    Thanks :)

It sounds more like its your computer than the tv.

I read the post and the op mentioned using the f8 button on the keyboard. There was no mention of the control panel.

Try reducing the resolution of your main scrren to the minimum before switching the display.
