Do serious gamers only use a CRT monitor because they can get higher refresh rates? Doesn't being limited to 60HZ with an LCD hurt your gaming?

Gamers use CRT's for better "resolution" support for games, the refresh is set high enough for a solid "non flicker" display. CRT's will have far less "motion blur" than low to mid quality LCD's. CRT's are still the king of DTP and have a wider color gamut. If you want max frame rates and sharpest picture, the CRT is the answer to a fixed high resolution LCD display.

LCD's have a natural refresh of 60HZ, you can force a higher refresh on some displays but may have strange or no better performance as most LCD's are hardware locked in resolution and refresh.

I find that most of the newer games look very good on a non native, lower LCD resolution, but YMMV!
