    Hi,

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an 2.2Ghz C2D 9600M GT LG P310 while they were still on sale in Poland. For those who don't know, it's the premium ultraportable featherlight 13.3 notebook from LG, no longer in production.

I've had it for a year, it overclocks very nicely and the score I normally get on 3dmark06 with a stable OC and low temps is 7250 3dmarks (1280x800), with around 3050 for SM 2.0 and 3.0.

I was looking at the M11x R2, but the highest bench I've seen so far is around 6500 3dmarks!

I don't understand how this is possible:
    9600M GT OC + C2D 2.23Ghz 1280x800 = 7250 3dmarks
    GT335M OC + i7 2.26Ghz (TB) 1376x768 = 6450 3dmarks

Seems like there's no point getting an M11x R2 if my LG P310 with a theoretically weaker graphics card beats it by a good 800 points?

I say save your money and keep your LG P310. Even *if* the M11X was better it will not be by much. I hope this helps. God Bless :)

Do keep in mind that benchmarks are one thing ... real-time gaming experience is something else.
    :)
Although I do concede the fact that GT335M seems like a weaker gpu overall.

The CPU could compensate for that easily enough because the i7 architecture beats the C2D clock per clock by a good margin.

Ultimately, I'd definitely recommend you save your money and wait for Sandy Bridge to come out in early 2011.
That will give you more powerful mid-range solutions to pick from alongside of the CPU architecture that again beats clock per clock the current i series.
The i7 2720qm will beat the highest clocked mobile i7 quad today.

I wouldn't get it anyways.. its CPU is too weak... keep the LG.. not worth the M11x.

Well this is an awesome thread.

    Why don't you try a p8800 or p9600 2.6ghz added to that score? ;)

If you check the alienware forums, the m11x R2 (i7-640um) can bench from 8100-8300. Throttlestop can be utilized to really squeeze the juice out of the I7 processor. The 335 is a nice mid range card, and the neat thing is you can actually play a game, ON BATTERY, for almost 2 hours. I am not talking Farmville here either. COD MW2 or Fallout or whatever for 2 hours on battery.

The m11x is a niche machine but it is very cool. Good Luck, StevenX

the alienware has the brand, nice case, 8+ hour batter life, and good performance for a small computer.

if raw performance is what you want, keep what you have, though, the 335m is much newer, thus, it probably has rendering methods that surpass the 9600gt.

while my old notebook with sli 7950gtx cards had MUCH higher raw power than the 335gt, my notebook would get wrecked by mass effect 2 and games like borderlands. the m11x does a little better.
