I would appreciate if you guys could help me troubleshoot this problem. Im getting average 90fps in a game like COD2 multiplayer yet I get a hiccup say every 15 minutes or so where the game just freezes for 2 seconds and then resumes. Even in a less demanding game like Fahrenheit I get the same "lag spike". But then in Tomb Raider Legend I do not get the lag at all.
My specs:
Asus V6Va
P-M 1.8Ghz
2GB Ram
128MB X700
100GB 4200rpm HD
Could it be the hard drive thats slowing things down?

Did you do defragging ?
And the drivers ? -
Thanks for the quick reply. I never defrag but this is the first system Ive had a problem with gaming on. Ive tried both the latest Omega drivers and Catalyst 7.3, still same problem.
-
Then try out defragment it helps many times.

Sorry to tell you mate but you have the lagging issue. Something which is caused by the Uniwill motherboard and SATA hard drive.
F&S notebooks also have that problem, especially the M3438G (I think 40%and M1437G (10%). F&S and Asus have never accepted this problem.
Here is a link that updates your RAID drivers. People say it fixes the problem. I never had this problem though. So I cannot really tell if it fixes.
Here is the link for F&S notebooks, should also work with Asus notebooks but I am not resposible if something goes wrong.

Are you gaming wirlessly or through LAN?

bit off-topic here, but I gotta ask...
Did Asus ever make good on your V6VA's battery problems? Was it the battery, or some charging circuit inside the laptop?
As for your lag issue, could well be an issue on the server itself -- do any of the other players notice anything at the same time? -
I had a similar problem on some games with my old Compaq that had a x700. Was especially noticable in NFS:WM.
-
Cant find the thread now but I did what one guy said, I turned off the alarm action to shut off computer when battery is low. On battery the notebook lasted for 2 hours even though it was at 3%. So its definitely not the battery but the Asus rep I spoke to wouldnt admit to the battery problem, which so many people here on the forum has. The new battery suddenly had 20% wear level only after a week.
As for lag, other players on the server do not notice it. Everyone including myself has low ping. Right now Im defragging so hope that works. Forgot to mention I also undervolted.. its back on default now. Gonna try COD2 after I defragment and see how it goes. -
Nope, defragment didnt fix it and undervolting wasnt the problem either as I still get the lag.

Let me repeat what I said before, are you directly connected or gaming on a wireless connection?
Mike. -
Mike, no wireless or router. Connected straight to my cable modem.
-
I have the same problem right now as you. I have a Asus G1S-B1 and im getting lag spikes with any online game even when im connected to the Router Via CAT5. Notebook Solutions gave the Round around about the Asus laptops and the "Lagging". Im on Vista though and the driver wont work. Hopefully if something works for you, i can try it out.
