Did you update your video card driver? Check nvidia control panel and change most of the 3D setting inside to application control instead of the original settings.

Or... is that due to your connection speed problem? Did you have issue at single player?

the 1600x1200 should be clear if you use the scale keeping the aspect ratio or even the option to not scale

Its normal for Mortinator to feel unclear as he's using resolution other than it's native resolution.

Remember that as powerful as it is, the 8800M is still not that good a card when you're talking about Crysis - 1900x1200 is an insanely high resolution for such a killer game - that's probably your 'problem' as such. I run at 1280x1024 on my desktop HD3870 OC

Yea, I think you are right...
The 8800M is a powerfull card but not a supercard.
Try to lower your resolution (or try overclocking :p )

Desktop 8800's even have problems with this game at 1920x1200, so tone it down a bit. Make sure you check the options in video to maintain the aspect ratio of the resolution so the image doesn't get stretched and blurred.

Check my signature, but I have a similar setup to what you're running. I haven't tried multi-player yet on this laptop, but in single-player it's smooth for the most part with these settings.. a few really intensive areas lag it up a little though. So pretty much, I'm hoping with a few game/driver updates this will at least run smooth at these settings sometime in the future. I'm about to go try the 1.1 patch to see if it helped at all.

Edit: There's a HUGE difference in performance playing in dx10. The first village you have to go into after seeing the wrecked boat is now completely smooth at 1920x1200, medium settings, and motion blur to off. So far I'm happy! :D

If you are playing Crysis at High resolution, you have to bring down the settings to medium.

Crysis is, first and foremost, a very UN-OPTIMIZED game... even with their new patch. It has been this way since I have been doing the first Beta's... EA just wanted Crytek to release it without anymore delays... which was kind of a bad thing, since it has made the consumers the new beta testers.

If you want to lower your resolution, you can bring it down to another 16:10 resolution... which would not be noticeable on your screen (which is the same as mine).

For example, you can choose a resolution around (and it should still look great):
    1680 x 1050
    1280 x 800

An 8800M GTX should be able to handle Crysis on medium even at 1080p. Lower the resolution and see if it still lags. If it does, then you know something else is wrong.

Yeah, still playing, it's running great after that new patch I'd say ~10-20fps increase and it's smoother over-all. :)

This patch doesn´t increase the framerates by 10 or 20´s at all. Maybe 1-3 fps at most.

Have you checked that with fraps? What res do you run at? Try to run at 1440x900 and with tweaked Very High XP and see what kind of FPS you get ;)

Ah no sorry my fault, it is only DX10 that has gotten improved, no noticable improvement in DX9.

hmm about Crysis... on my RIg i got the SLI 7950GTX, intel t7200 OC @ 2.2 ghz, 2 gigs of ram, and sometimes for somereason , at ev to maxery kind of setting or res (even low when i get 80FPS) i see some stuff loading like. from far i see a tree, whenever i get closer it keeps to change.. whats the problem here? i asked all AW users i know and none is getting that kind of troubles, on some other games like COD 4 i put everything on max, AAx4 AF to max i dont see the same thing in Crysis, but sometimes i might see a little brick came on screen when i got closer, so can someone tell me whats Bottlenecking me?

    btw i'm on VIsta 32-bit

It's because of the game's draw distance. Objects draw themselves in at a higher detail the closer you get to them. Some objects, like small bushes, rocks, bricks and the like, don't appear in the game world until you are about fifty metres away from them. You can counter this by upping your "Object Detail" setting in Crysis. It sets the draw distance back further so that objects draw in earlier and you don't see them as much because most of them are out of your viewing range. Of course, this lags the s**t out of a laptop, because a notebook v/c can't take the hits like a desktop card can. But longer draw distances on the smaller objects can (& do!) play havoc on your framerate. Also, try upping your "Shader" setting...that might help too.
But that will just make the framerate worse.

Also, DON'T max out Crysis. If the best desktops in the world can't handle it, a laptop doesn't have a snowflake's chance in Hell.
Video cards also have a nasty habit of dropping objects (seemingly lowering draw distance when they shouldn't) out of the game world because they are being stressed too much. Tone down the graphics a little, and you'll get better performance, and although the draw distance might not be quite up to what you're used to seeing, you'll just have to get used to it.
Nothing is going to be able to max this game out like other games until the 9800GTX comes out and Penryn Quad-Cores drop below $1000 so that everyone else can buy them.
Fact of life. If it hurts too much, then wait for the new tech to be released and stick with COD4 until then.

    Good luck...

He has a mac and wants to be different.

Crysis tho plays nicely on -dx9 setting at high/med with 8800mGTS. AVG 25 fps, try to avoid water becaue it decreases fps alot :p Using 1440x900 res.
