    Hi guys,

I have a T60 with 2Gb ram and X1400. I was trying to play Civ IV and Caesar IV the other days at max settings. Everything started out smooth and lags more and more as the game goes on. Then I tried playing on the lowest setting and the same thing happens. It's really annoying. Is the X1400 not supposed to be able to handle those games? Thanks.

The X1400 should be able to hand;e the game. Are you using the latest driver? Also try defragmenting the hard drive.

When I try updating straight from the ATI website, it tells me to use the manufacter's update tool so I don't know if I have the latest driver or not. I have a 80Gb 5400rpm hard drive that dual boots Ubuntu and XP. Is that the reason why?

    No.

What happens if you turn down the settings? Does your laptop start heating up quickly after you've been playing for a few minutes? Does the T60 do this on any other games?

I turn down the setting and the same thing happens. It starts out with decent fps but starts lagging as the game goes on until its unplayable. I have only tried two intensive games mentioned above and it happens on both.

try downloading 3dmark and running it, that will give us an indication if your card is running at full speed.
