Ok I got this laptop cooler because when I play some games for an extended time, my laptop gets pretty warm on the wrist support. The problem is that even if I use the cooler on the bottom, my GPU temp read by rivertuner hasn't changed and my wrist supports get pretty warm still! Am I not suppose to just put the laptop above the cooler? FYI, the bottom surface of my laptop remains pretty cool but it's the top part and temp read by rivertuner that bothers me. please help!

    My computer is Sony SZ-680N
My cooler is Targus 4 usb hub cooler
When I'm not using rivatuner says that it's 54~57 and when it's on use, it goes upto 73.
The thing is even before I bought the cooler, I was getting those numbers. Why isn't this cooler helping to lower the temps? :(

A cooler is only as good as the spots where the air is coming out... usually shows a difference if the air on the cooler is right under the notebooks fans.

The best cooler tested and mostly used by gaming notebook owners is the:
    - Zalman ZM-NC1000.
.. since its design is perfect for nearly all notebooks because the entire stage of the cooler has air flow (like an air hockey table).

In any case, your temps seem fine. The danger temps is when it gets beyond 90C degrees.

The warmth that you feel is probably due to the design of the notebook (thin palmrest plastic, location of the videocard or CPU, etc..)

    Your notebook seems fine.
