Hey, I'm looking for an updated list with the new GPU's that are out. I see that the 9600's are out or coming out as well as a few from ATI, but I'm not sure how they stack up next to the 88800, 8700, or the 8600.

I'm sure the 8800M is still king. What I'm asking is that I've read a few times that the 9600 isn't that much worse than the 8800(as for Laptop GPU's), and that it's significantly cheaper. Does anyone know how this card would stack up to the 8800 or even the 8700? I had an Alienware shortly with the 8700's in SLI and it performed terrible in Crysis.

If this card is preferred, what lappy's out there support this card?

    **EDIT**

Is it worth waiting for this card over the 8800M?

It's in the humongous sticky, titled Read Before You Post. The 9600m is not out yet.

That's why I'm asking, to see if anyone knows how the 9600M stacks up, if there's an inside word yet.

Well the desktop model fairs well in comparison to an 8800, but it bites the dust at higher resolutions with more AA.

Soo...yeah it'll make a fantastic high-midrange card, but for now 8800m is probably a little bit better in most arenas.

Cool. From what I've been gathering, these are the choices for 8800's:

    Sager
    Gateway
    Alienware
    Dell XPS

    Am I missing any?

Not really much we can do but speculate at this point. Based on the desktop gpu it'll prob provide a good upgrade for the previous 8600 series maybe only lagging slightly behind 8800 gts speeds..

The 8800 is still king of the hill for the foreseeable future, only think about the 9600 if you're on a budget and don't need to squeeze every last fps out of games at high resolutions. Once the 9800m GTX is developed the 8800 will be dethroned and take the same place the 7950m GTX holds now in the GPU pecking order.

Yes,but the performance ratio should be very similar.
And appart from the 9500M GS , I haven`t seen any other 9th series(stronger than the 9500) in notebooks. And they stand no chance against the 8800 series,be it GTS or GTX.
