The purpose of this thread is to collect users' experience with games and playability. I will do my best to compile a list at the beginning of this thread for reference. It seems we get a lot of "can my machine run ..."

    Just make it simple. State:

    Laptop:
    CPU (& any overclock):
    GPU (& any overclock):
    Game / FPS / Resolution / Detail:
    Other: (Driver version, etc)

    For example:

    DV6z Quad
    A8-3510MX @ 2.4GHz
    6750m @ 780/880
    BFBC2 / 50 fps / 1080p / low + med
    Deus Ex Revolution / 40 fps / 1080p / med
    Starcraft 2 / 50 fps / 1080p / high

As much input as we can get as possible would be nice. Even if someone has an identical system at least it will be confirmation of performance.

It's not a "Gaming" Laptop but:

    Dell XPS 15 L501X
    i3-370m
    2x2Gb DDR3
    GT420M Overclocked to GT540M (672/1344/900)

I play only at native resolution, so all the performances recorded are @ 1366x768. If for any reason i play at different resolution, it will be reported :)

Read the description at the beginning of each video to see specific details about video options, and how much recording hit the performances in FPS loss.

    Battlefield Bad Company 2
    Team Fortress 2
    Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty
Settlers 7 Path to a Kingdom
    Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery)
    Magicka
    Deus Ex Human Revolution
Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition
    Tropico 4
    The Witcher 2
    Crysis 2
    Dragon Age 2
Need For Speed Shift 2 Unleashed
    Metro 2033
    The Cursed Crusade
    Battlefield 3 (Open Beta)

    Laptop: Clevo P170Hmx
    CPU: Intel Core i7 2720QM @ 2,2 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6970m @ stock clocks unless specified

    AMD Catalyst Suite 11.9 RCx
Minecraft v1.8.1 / F11 Fullscreen 1920x1080 / Far rendering, Fancy, Advanced OpenGL and Smooth Lighting enables

    AMD Catalyst Suite 11.9 WHQL @ 710MHz Core & 1000MHz Memory
Crysis 2 v1.9 / 1920x1080 Dx9 / Settings on Ultra preset, High Resolution textures enables and Motion Blur disabled.
I took the readings on the first level.
Outside the sub i get 45fps.
Inside the sub its around 30fps.
Outside the city after the sub got sinked its between 30 to 40fps.
Prophet vs Gunship is 25 to 30fps.
Alcatraz after getting the suit is 30 to 35fps.

So this game is perfectly playable, but you gotta turn some settings down for stable 60fps

I think this thread will be more useful if we have more info about how games run on medium to low end GPUs, high end GPUs have no problems running most modern games on high to max settings.

And I get the feeling this is going to turn into a somewhat "show off your hardware" thread thus making this gaming chart less meaningful to people with medium/low end hardwares, for people with high end GPUs like sli 560M/5870M CF, the only question remains is whether you can run a game totally maxed or not. Most people come here questioning "can my laptop run this?" are usually people with modest hardwares, I think I made my point quite clear, so I am not going to post how well games run on my m17xr3 with 6970M as it runs all my games fluidly on max or close to max settings at 1080p.

Anyway, here is something I can contribute:

System: Asus g50vt [email protected], 9800M gs@stock speed

Witcher 2: 15-40fps/720P/most settings on low or off/ NOT PLAYABLE
Mass effect 2: 35-60fps/1080p/ultra settings with AA off/ very playable
Dragon age: Origin: 20-60fps/1080p/medium settings with AA off/ playable
Dragon age 2: 20-60fps/1080p/DX9 medium settings with AA off/ playable

We all know this, but it's not as detailed and frequently pretty vague. Just trying to show some real world results for reference because there's frequently users that ask "my laptop can only run this game at x fps" or "why can't my laptop run game x"? At least it'd be a good measure to double check.

Totally was not trying to do that. I was just contributing to HTWingNuts thread. A lot of people ask how these higher end GPU's run as well, it is not just low/medium end GPU owners. So I think they are quite valid, Also remember not everyone is versed in mobile hardware so users in the market for a crossfire notebook that have never purchased one before might find it useful as I have from threads in the Alienware section.

Thanks for the updates guys. More people that contribute the better it will be for everyone. It doesn't have to be exact just a ballpark, preferably at least using some FPS measurement program at least that you've eyeballed while gaming.

    Laptop: hp envy 15
    CPU: i7-820QM 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo)
GPU: 1GB AMD 5830m (most games stable overclock up to about 565/1100)
Other: (OS and all games+mods installed on dual Intel X18 G2 SSDs in Raid0), 16GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM

Witcher 2: 20-30 fps / 1920x1080 / stock clocks / Texture Memory Size Large, Texture Downscaling None, Shadow Quality Ultra, Shadowed Lights Ultra, LOD Distance Near, Bloom Disabled, Light Shafts Enabled, AA Disabled, Blur Effects Disabled, DOF Disabled, Vignette Disabled, Wet Rain Surface Effect Disabled, SSAO Enabled, Motion Blur Disabled, Dangling Objects Limit Disabled, Ubersampling Disabled, Decals High Spec, vsync off

(note above is using stock clocks. when overclocking Witcher 2, I noticed about 5-10 fps gain, but the game would also temporarily crash to black screen on occasion and then resume playing. I think this has something to do with the Texture Memory Size setting, as it streams new textures.)

Team Fortress 2: 90-130 fps / 1920x1080 / stock clocks / all settings maxed except AA reduced to 2x and vsync off

Fallout New Vegas: 50-60fps / 1920x1080 / stock clocks / all settings maxed except water refraction/reflections/displacement off, AA reduced to 4x, vsync on, used HDR instead of bloom (using a few mods that add new radio stations, affect economy, time scale and hardcore mode rates. don't think this affects fps)

(will add more when I get a chance to check fps)

Im kinda curious, how does the hybrid crossfire behave when you play Deus Ex Human Revolution in Dx11 mode?
I read online that hybrid crossfire doesent really work that great unless the game is Dx11.

With the 11.9 CCC I would get a brief stutter on every character turn with the 11.10 preview drivers in DX11 I have not noticed it. RadeonPro does not show it running in crossfire like CODMW2 does so unsure if it is utilizing it?

As a matter of fact CODMW2 is the ONLY game that RadeonPro shows running in crossfire, thus the 100 fps I am getting?

Notebookcheck is a ranking of graphics cards, presumably at stock clocks.

IMO Wingnut's thread is a better way to gauge how well a particular laptop will perform for specific games before you buy it, or to compare with other owners of the same model to see if there are some settings you need to adjust to improve frame rate.
