Oi everyone, I'm using a Toshiba Satellite L355 Laptop as a work laptop for videos. But, my tower computer has finally come out of date for new games so I'm just going to throw a new graphics card into this laptop if possible. So far I only really play Valve games such as Half Life 2, Portal, TF2, and I just bought L4D to find out my graphics card can't handle it.

If I could / were to buy a new graphics card, what would you recommend for me? I don't want to spend too much because I don't game a lot but I am willing to invest into it a bit because I do still work on videos on it.

    Thank you for your time!

In general, it's usually not possible to upgrade laptop graphics except in higher-end gaming machines-and even then it's not guaranteed and varies from model to model. It looks like your Toshiba has either Intel or ATI integrated graphics, so there's probably no way to upgrade it.
The only other option would be an external solution like the ViDock, but it's not portable, requires an external monitor, and may not be compatible with your notebook--check the compatibility charts to be sure.

To also break you the bad news just like the poster above said, your laptop graphic card can not be upgraded. I don't even think it has a dedicated graphic card for all that matters. If you are a light gamer than you should start investing in a new laptop with a decent graphic card that now could be had for around $600-$900.
