I know with Desktops that video cards are important for gaming along with memory and processor, but with laptops i am having trouble finding one that meets my needs and is within my $2500 price range and have a core 2 duo and a NVIDIA 7950. Also does anyone know if the NVIDIA 8600 will match the 7950 or if is a a good gaming video card. Or can anyone simply recomend a good setup

The 8600GS/GT will not match up to the performance of the 7950.

$2500! Wow you have lots of options, but as others have stated, go with a Sager with 7950 GTX. Go to www.sagernotebook.com (NP5791) or www.xoticpc.com and configure a Sager 17" notebook.

yea at 2500$ there alot of options. But it also depends if you will need to carry your notebook on a daily basis, do you already have a desktop, will this be your only computer, ect... Just because you have 2500$, does not mean you need to spend all of it.

There are quite a few Sagers up for grabs in the B/S/T forum.
(including mine which is now up for auction on eBay)
