    Hi,
i am planning on buying a new laptop and i am choosing between a

Dell Studio XPS 16 (Intel core 2 Duo Processor p8600, 4Gb 1067MHz Dual Channel DDR3 RAM, and most importantly a ATI Radeon HD 3670 512 mb graphics card)

    and a

    Rizeon S97V-GT (Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P9500 2.53GHz (6MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB, 25W), 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 800MHz, and a Nvidia Geforce 9650M GT 1024MB Graphics card)

I have 2 questions: which one of these laptops is the better choice? (i will give full specs if anyone needs em), i am mostly looking to play games, but also to use it for normal everyday stuff.

brings me to my second question, what one of these two graphics cards is the better one?! the Radeon HD 3670 or the Geforce 9650M GT ?!

    thanks :)

Well now you can buy the SXPS 16 with HD4670 and its far better than geforce 9650MGT.

But of the two you listed, the bottom is better overall and in the GPU department.

Well the 9650GT is better but not for much.

    HD3670 = 9600gt. But if the 9650gt is GDDR2 then the hd3670 is equal.

It's got 1GB of memory, which probably denotes (G)DDR2.
    Go with the Studio XPS.

For gaming, I wouldn't buy either of those regardless. I would save up until I could get a GPU that would last a bit longer and cope with more games on some eye candy settings. Either that or wait until the Vidock2 is out.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the HD 3670 is a fair bit cooler running. A big consideration in a laptop.

The 9650m GT can play every game out at max settings, except for crysis and GTA4. It runs VERY cool. 64 degrees celsius at maximum load, thought this depends much more on the laptop's cooling system

The 9650M GT in the Rizeon laptop is DDR2 ... a weaker version and as such would be slightly better compared to the HD3650 but still on par if not a tad weaker compared to 9600m GT GDDR3.

I would personally keep looking if I were you and try to find a GDDR3 gpu mid-range card.

oh and also: i have a 1000 pound (which is € 1,168.98 and is $ 1,633.81) budget, which narrows everything down quite a bit ;)

With that kind of cash, I would get something with a 9800m and above or an ati 4850 and above.

It's available for a GPU upgrade on Dell's website.

Yep I think that the HD4670 is "almost" a gaming card, because its close to the 9800GS by like 700 3dmarks less.

You'r so wrong HD4670 is nothing special, it has 128 bit Memory Bus, there for 4670 will perform very bad at high resolution. In 3dmark 4670 geting between 6400-7000p. in 1280x1024 which is low resolution for gaming.HD4670 can't use more than 256 ram because it has 128 bit Memory Bus.

9800m GS is high level GPU, it has 256 bit Memory Bus.

Wrong with 128 bits you can use up to 512mb...

Its good for gaming with a 9800gs you get like 8100p...

    this is strange, i checked on Notebookcheck.com and there, the HD 3670 has a higher 3Dmarkscore (7284 ) than the 4570 (7087 )
ALSO, i live in the UK, and getting a laptop fomr the UK, i dont see why dell wud offer a different graphics card in the US ?... that would just be blackmail :p

Memory Bus width is important, but it is not a magical end-all be-all of performance, just as it does not impose a magical wall barring the use of any memory beyond 2x the bandwidth. Sure, the 9800m GS is still a little better than the 4670, but they are pretty close. There will be a time in the fairly near future when a 128 bit card will outperform a 9800m GS.

Why is that strange? The 3670 is a better card than the 4570.

You should have gone with that Quad Core 2.0ghz and Geforce 260m 1 gb which was so cheap and found in Tech bargains. That was really a cheap price! :)
