I want to buy a laptop that will be able to play current games (like CRYSIS 2, MAX PAYNE 3) at good settings (medium or more) and i wish that it will be able to play future games even in low settings.

I found 3 and i want you to give me a clue of what to choose:

    1)
    HP PAVILLION
    Core i5-2450M 2.50 GHz
    AMD Radeon HD 7690MXT 2GB
    6GB DD3
NO GOOD SERVICE in my country
    760 euros

    2)SONY VAIO
    Core i5 3210QM 2.50 GHz
    GeForce GT 640M 1024 MB
    4GB DD3
VERY GOOD SERVICE AT MY COUNTRY
    1100 euros

    3)HP
    Core i7-2630QM 2.00 GHz
    ATI Radeon HD 6770M
    6GB DD3
    1042 euros

I dont know which one i should buy. I saw in game-debate.com that the 6770 is the best for MAX PAYNE 3 and games generally. 7690MXT is second and third is 640M. Is that true? How can i learn which one is better?

PS: If anyone played MAX PAYNE 3 in a laptop that has this graphic cards or worse please tell me how it runned ;)

The vaio is by far the best out of them 3 specs wise as the vaio has ivy bridge cpu and nvidia kepler 28nm gpu.

Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards - Notebookcheck.net Tech

On this I compared the 3 and saw game performance that the 640m was on top and the 7690m xt was 1 to 5% faster then 6770m. Also the 640m should take nearly half the power consumption of these cards and has new kepler features. Also the vaio has ivy bridge cpu which has dx11 igpu hd 4000 graphics so the sony spec wise is superior.

So basically the 640m if it is the proper 640m non le version then the 640m is the best. Also funnily enough the 7690m xt is 2nd and the 6770m is 3rd the opposite order you put them :D

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

Max payne should run ok at 30fps+ without aa.

Yes the VAIO is better in almost every department. You can always purchase more RAM (afaik, the VAIO has one empty slot) and a larger HDD but it is much more difficult (and I believe impossible on those machines) to upgrade the CPU and GPU.

The i5 of the VAIO is similar in performance to the i7 of the HP. That is because the i7 is second generation Sandy Bridge and the i5 is the latest (3rd) generation Ivy Bridge. You can Google those to see their specifics. Also, this is a good website for CPU and GPU comparisons.

You can go to Google, type the CPU/GPU name followed by notebookcheck and it will direct you to the page for that component.

A final note, the VAIO website has knowingly or unknowingly put incorrect information on the processor. There is no i5 3210 QM. ALL mobile core i5 processors are dual core. The Q stands for quad. Other nomenclature letters include M for mobile (duh :) ) X for extreme (these are generally very expensive) and U for ultrabooks (?).

Guys thank you so much for the asnwers ! I have one last question. I found the same laptop but with one difference. It has:

On-board graphics adapter model : HD Graphics 4000
Discrete graphics adapter model : GeForce GT 640M

I presume , that it has 2 graphic cards. Is that good? Is that better than buying the other one that has 1 ? It has almost the same price. Suprisingly, the one with the 2 cards is 30 euros cheaper !

That is weird. Can you post a link? It is called Optimus. It is nvidia proprietary tech that lets the laptop use the intel (lower powered) GPU when you are doing stuff like browsing the internet or writing a word document and switches to the discrete nvidia GPU when you start a game. OEMs can opt out of Optimus. That being said, I see no reason why Sony would opt out of the technology. It would help if you could post a link to ensure that you are not actually getting the same laptop with NO discrete GPU.

Here is the first that shows 1 card : http://www.plaisio.gr/Laptop-and-Tablet/Notebook/Laptop/Sony-Vaio-S1511N3ES-S1511N3ES.htm
and here is the second (SAME LAPTOP)that shows 2 cards ! SONY VAIO SV-S1511N3ES SILVER Shop13.gr

What do you think? Are two cards a problem?

both are showing 2 cards, and there is no model of the S15 that comes without a 640m LE.

and no 2 cards aint a problem. Sony dont use optimus, it uses a manual or automatic swich that they have developed. The problem here is that they dont update their drivers very often, but people do mod latest drivers for it to work.

Yup if you post the stuff under the video card into google translate, it talks about Optimus. Both laptops seem to be the exact same.
