I played WC3 on my laptop and it works perfectly. (60 FPS constantly)

    My Spec is 1.73GHZ CPU, 512MB RAM, X300 64MB VRAM, 60 4200RPM harddisk, Time-warner cable.

So any laptop with or better than the above spec. should work perfectly.

How much money can you spend?
There are LOTS of notebooks out there.... a few which come to mind right away:
    Asus Z70Va
    HP DV4000 with ATI X700
    Acer Ferrari series

I played WC3 TFT fine on my old desktop, it had some old school intergrated video module

Anything dedicated will do the job :)

    DotA maybe?

Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) and Defense of the Ancients All-Stars ( http://www.dota-allstars.com) is by FAR the most addictive game I've played in the past 6 years or so.. Warcraft III gets boring after 3 months.. buy frozen throne and then its boring after 6 months.. Buy frozen throne AND play DOTA online... Hmm. on almost 2 years and counting. I've probably played it well over 400+ hours.. 2 Summer vacations, 2 Christmas breaks, and every weekend for 2 years..
Once I knew all the abilities and strats for each hero in all-stars, then I started playing all-random (everybody gets random heros). After that, I got so good at it that I could be "GodLike" one out of every 3 games

I got soooo sick of playing DOTA All-stars that I could puke.. BUT being GodLike was something I never got tired of. So I kept playing DOTA just to get get the title. Just to pawn other people.. That is the most addicting thing.. To be more powerful than their entire team.. To get "GANKED" by three heros on the enemy team and then own all three of them, which will level you up. And they get no XP at all 'cause they died. Also, they lose gold for dieing... And you get gold for pawning.. Then their team starts crying that their teammates are "Uber Noobs" because they keep "feeding" me. They have to use some serious teamwork to stop a Godlike spree (Its stupid to let anybody get this powerful, so usually the whole team, YES all 5!! Will try to gank me before I get to godlike. Which is why most games I don't get the Godlike title. If you die, you lose your title)

    "Killing spree"
    "Dominating"
    "WICKED SICK!!!!"
    "UNSTOPPABLE!!!!"
    "GODLIKE!!"
These words will become your crack-cocaine...
I put myself on a little addiction rehab program.. Forced myself to uninstall the game.. Then gave my CD to my sister and had it install it on her computer.. So I thought that I had to get the CD back, install it, install all the patches, and I would be able to stop myself along the line there somewhere. I'm actually doing pretty good now.. About 2 or 3 months since I've played all-stars.. I still don't leave the house much though.

A Compaq V4000T is probably your only option under $1,000US. You'll have to upgrade the memory yourself to save money and keep your budget.

I recommend getting the Penitum M and BrightView screen, then that should top out your budget.

Be sure to check out all of the Dell coupons (should be a link to them in the Dell Forum of this site). You may be able to whip up a pretty sick little system for not too much cash with the right coupon codes.
