Hi, i had installed dox's drivers 179.05 or something close and my idle temwere around 35-40 celcius in hwmonitor. i installed his 185 drivers then downloaded the latest drivers from nvidia. my temps for both drivers were about 60 celcius idle. i then reverted back to his 175.05 drivers and now my idle temps are 50 idle. how can i get my old temps back?

50 is high for idle, have you cleaned your vents lately? Might want to check and blow them out. Make sure the fans are cleaned and working aswell. Also maybe reapply thermal paste, MX-2 or AS5 are good ones.

If you see such a difference between drivers, therefore there is something with the drivers. Are you uninstalling the old drivers before installing the new one? That may be the cause for such disparity.

    I hope it helps.

Yeah use driver sweeper to clean all remnants of the old drivers before installing a new one.

i wouldnt say 50 is high for idle temps. Even when my laptop was brand new and when i got the heatsink/mobo replaced it still idled at like 57-64 C. I wouldnt be too concerned with it. Different laptops have different cooling methods.

Yes, but the OP says he gets 10°C of difference just by installing two different drivers. That is a different issue.

Use system restore and restore to before you installed the newer drives?

So there seems you have two issues: the permanent increase in temperature may mean either dust in the vents or problems with the heat sink. But in any case if you install any driver you should not see 10°C of difference, that sounds more like a bad installation of new drivers.

You have to get one of those pressurized cans with air.

    1) Turn off the computer and remove the battery.
    2) Press the On button to ensure all system has no stored electricity (capacitors).
    3) Throw the pressurized air towards one vent and see the dust go on the other vent (there should be one vent on the bottom of the laptop, another on the side).
    4) Repeat until no dust comes off.
