Damn! This driver seems to have dropped my 3DMark06 score from the 174.82 driver from about 9150 to 8750.... almost 400 points drop!! Did I do something wrong ? Fault installation ?

Hmmm.... I guess I'll run a test again later after a fresh restart.... otherwise I'll revert to the previous one! But I'll keep this one now for a while, try a few games and see if there's noticible performance differences...

i used it and didnt like it, for me the colours looks too dark and vivid compared to 174.82.

plus i found i couldnt force AA in the cp anymore like 174.74/82.

Same results here as well, except I'm coming from 174.53. Not seeing any performance improvements either.

I had a terrible loss in framrates when I switched to these in Rainbow Six vegas 2. It went from playable to unplayable.

Okay guys.... terrible new problem for me!! So the 174.93 drivers didn't work out for me.... going from 9150 to 8750 score in 3DMark06..... So I uninstalled and switched back to the trusty 174.82 drivers, but I still get the same score!!! Please help! What must I do now to get my system back to the way it was ? Will I have to reformat and reinstall windows ?

try uninstalling the drivers. Reboot your machine, then run drivercleaner or driversweeper and then reinstall the drivers again (your old ones not the 174.93's). should sort you out. I had similar problems with 174.74 so I know it works for me..
You can get driversweeper from http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=driversweeper

What's better.... drivercleaner or driversweeper ? Anything else ? Also, I have to reinstall drivers through safe mode, correct ?

Don't you read any of the guides here, I even posted a link to one in this thread on how to properly uninstall and install drivers.

Oh and your 3DMark wont always be the same, its a just a benchmark program nothing more, did you even try any games ?? Also don't run 3DMark right after any gaming/ another 3dmark run / installing drivers, wait for the notebook to cool down.

I suggest you go read this thread again for the link i posted and do some searching on the forums.

I know 3DMark is a benchmark.... 50-100 points here and there is fine but the 174.93 driver made me lose 400-500 points!! Anyway, I've finished Crysis and WiC, as well as R6 Vegas 2, also played others.... I run 3DMark after a fresh restart :) Thanks :)

I noticed my benchmark drop a few hundred with 174.93 but 3Dmark means nothing! Games run twice as smooth and no stutter, faster rendereing and higher quality. its about how games wrun not how 3dmark performs

Prasad007, I had this problem for a long time before I figured it out. Its the settings of your Nvidia control panel. Make sure you have multithreading (use of 2 processor cores) turned ON, not just the recommended AUTO. Then your scores in 3dmark 06 should go back up by like 400 points.

I'll look around for that setting...
But I think there's still something permanently screwed up now, since I used driversweeper and installed the trusty 174.82 driver and still get the same 8750 score!! :( Will try your suggestion now :)

EDIT: Couldn't find this multithreading option.... There was something like "Threaded optimization".... turned that on.... trying 3DMark again now...

I tried turning ^^^^ that option on.... And still the same score on the "trusty" 174.82 drivers.... :( What now, format ? And after that, still same score !? Permanent low score ?

Dissapointed about this driver .. the performance in COD4 and Crysis dropped and Nvidia Control Panel dissappeared. Back to 174.74 :D

Tried these and they didn't work for me at all -- they wouldn't even do 1680x1050 on my Samsung via DVI. Went back to 174.82 and it worked fine. Dodgy drivers.

How about the new 175.12 driver, guys ? And what about my issue.... I'm stuck at ~8750 now instead of my original ~9150 score!!

Why are you so bothered about your "synthetic" benchmark score obtained from 3dmark? Do you notice a problem with the way your games play? If you don't see any problems I would suggest you ignore 3d mark (at least until vantage comes out) as it has very little bearing on the real performance of your computer.

If there were fluctuations and I got low and high scores variably... that'd be fine, but it's not like that.... I ALWAYS got ~9150 before... and now I ALWAYS get ~8750 no matters what drivers I use.... same default settings.... That shouldn't matter ? Because there's obviously SOME major change.... and it's disturbing!

okay. I kind of understand where you're coming from. I was just pointing out that 3d mark isn't the be all and end all.

I know. All games run maxed out except Crysis.... so there isn't a problem... :) It's just the feeling that something's gone wrong and I'm NOT getting the performance I was getting before from the same computer (which holds true)... 3DMark wise...

I dont even run 3dmark after installing drivers, I just check the ingame performance.

Your one paranoid kid, probs one of em who runs 3dmark after every defrag/driver/software hoping to get a magical score.

Be happy with the game performance, screw 3dmark, I mean seriously you dont play 3dmark, its just a benchmark
