    Hello,
I have never had a laptop of my own(besides work)untill today.
I kind of last track in the past years regarding what is good and what is not(Graphic cards,cpu's...)but i did a research to get back on track.
My question is if my laptop specs are safe enough to play once in a while?
My last game was farcry (desktop computer)with radeon X600..so yea i am Old :)
I bought the laptop for my business but wanted to know if there is any game nowdays that will work well on it and is it safe(overheating)?!((Gta4 ??-I know it's old but never had a chance to try it)
    My laptop is:
    HP 17.3" Intel Core i5-2430M
    Ram size:6GB
    Graphics Chipset:Radeon HD 6470M
    Dedicated Video Memory Size:1GB

    Thank you :)

Unless you are overclocking or modding something on your programs most modern systems will shut off/lock up to prevent damage before they over heat for long enough to do damage.

If you are interested there are a variety of CPU/GPU temperature monitoring softwares out there that you can download for free to test your systems performance.

For normal gaming just read the games specs to ensure you have the min recommended and play with each games graphic interface settings until you find its playble.

Another thing that may go without saying is gaming takes up monster amounts of power even with a 2nd gen motherboard like yours when your GPU is running games it will eat up power very fast like 45mins to an 1 and 15 mins you will run out of battery vs. just browsing/watching video you can go sometimes 3-5 hours long.... Play plugged in for optimal performance!

Not at all, GTA IV should be playable at medium settings on that card!

It's extremely unlikely that the mere act of playing ANY game will overheat the components in your laptop. The laptop will probably become warm to the touch, but these components can operate with temperatures up to 200+ degrees Fahrenheit, so you won't cause any damage and if you manage to push the computer to that point (doubtful) it will shut down to prevent component damage.

I found that link to check games a little inaccurate, Maybe Its because my system is upgraded with extra Ram and CPU, It says some games I play fluently with little to no stutter at high settings are unplayable on my GPU.

I would take it with a pinch of salt. It does say that CPU may effect actual gameplay system to system.
