Which laptops have the feature where you can switch between IGP or Dedicated depending on whether you want performance or better battery life.

The only one I know of is the Sony Vaio SZ which can switch between a dedicated 8400M GS and the x3100 but I'm sure there are more.

I know there are Sony's that can do it.

All I know of is the AW M15x and probably the M17x having a mode called stealth mode, where I believe it either super underclocks or switches. I personally, just used Laptopvideo2go.com drivers with clock stepping, thus when I am not playing videos, etc. it clocks down to nearly nothing.

Yup the AW M15X switches to IGP (BinaryGFX as AW call it :/ ), pretty awesome feature that also works with 9800 series GPUs in new nVidia boards in desktops too, its called Hybrid Power, I dunno if AW are using Hybrid Power or their own implementation with a lame new name
regardless its a cool feature
I think IGP is an x3100 -
Just found out about Hybrid SLI technology from nVidia which will provide this feature. The High-End 9M series cards will have this technology as well as GeForce Boost.
Heres the link

All new AMD PUMA platform notebooks equipped with a dedicated card will have this ability, with the added bonus of being able to do it on the fly, without a reboot of the system.
If you want to learn more about some of the other nifty features included in puma, check out this link: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4441 -

ASUS U3s/U3Sg http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&l2=75&l3=565&l4=0&model=2022&modelmenu=2
The U3Sg has a 9300M, not sure what the integrated card is though.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -

it's gonna be a standard feature on montevina, so basically any notebook after September can do it.

the nominal power required to run a dedicated card is not close from the IGP's power requirements
