This game looks simply fantastic. I was never a huge fan of the Tomb Raider games, they just got too frustrating and annoying for me, but I played several of them a good way through. I like the idea, and a good change of pace from a regular shooter. Not too many games around like it.
That being said this new game "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" is a change from the traditional Tomb Raider games. Third person top-down view and you can play co-op, actually the game is designed for co-op, but I guess the single player game is also fun, and different from the co-op one.
So for loners like me who rarely have someone to play with consistently, I may still pick it up. I guess online play will be patched into the consoles once the PC version is released.
This game looks like a lot of fun...

Yeah, the game was highly rated in the reviews I have seen. I have always been a big fan of tomb raider, xbox360 version was released last month, so far the tomb raider community spoke very highly of it. The PC version will be coming on 28th of this month on steam.

Looks interesting.
A Diablo type game.
Although it's more of a departure from the previous games, it seems like something worth to invest the time into. -

omg its alien swarm with boobs.
-
That looks interesting for so many reasons... I might just pick this up later (strapped for cash, for the foreseeable future
).
-
yeah last month i spent a few hours watching some guys casting it at JTV, i have to say im very much looking forward to playing the game, cant remember when its due for release on the pc but it cant be far away.......
one thing to note, if i remember correctly at the time the guys where casting this game on console the co-op was only local, if that's the case with the pc version it would be a huge let down and i for one would give it a miss. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
-
sweet news indeed, this looks like so much fun, and co-op would be a blast.
-
^^ haha i agree, i may actually get this one. all the others have been aquired grudgingly from video card bundles and freebies.
-
My son and I have been playing it off-and-on on the 360 for the last few weeks (along with Monday Night Combat and Hydro Thunder)...
I would say it's a cross between Diablo-type games and Lego-type games...Lego because of the co-op puzzle solving to move forward...Lara Croft and the Toltec/Mayan/Incan chieftain have different abilities and the puzzles are built around that dynamic...the puzzles aren't too difficult to figure out, and then not too difficult to execute (the rotating, flaming jets caused some problems for us, but it was a hand-eye problem on my end which was very frustrating for my son)...
We're probably three or four hours into the game so I don't know how long it goes...but so far, it's been really well done...
Nicely done learning curve..Graphics and animation are good...decent intro movie to provide something slightly more substantial than kill stuff/solve puzzles...and I think it's fun (wasn't a huge fan of the over-the-shoulder Tomb Raider games), but I like the controls and perspective...it was definitely worth $10... -
But where is the demo? The consoles got one ages ago.
Too many recent PC ports have been lacking one. -
Only $10? Wonder what PC pricing will be? I haven't seen it yet. Probably $20. We'll get shafted. -
It's a gamespot exclusive, it seems, I already signed up. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
-
just a heads up Lara Croft and the guardian of light is now up for pre-purchase at steam only $14.99 and they even throw in a free copy of tomb Raider legend for free, ive pre-ordered my copy.....
-
I got a demo key, will download and give it a go and let you guys now what I think! Maybe even a youtube video to boot if I'm up to it. I've got a cold, so maybe just gameplay video so you don't have to hear my congestive voice.
Considering you get Tomb Raider Legend with it, I may have to bite for $15. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Just a heads up, the online co-op is still delayed until "a later date" and will not be available on any platform on Sept 28th.

Since there is no online co-op at release i think I will hold off on this one for now.
I wish they would release a online version of torchlight already, now thats a good game that reminds me of this one. -
Yeah, let's do worms some more. I have a hard time coordinating more than myself and one other person at a time. I should have a little time this evening if I don't end up watching Lara bouncing around all over the place for too long. But can't be up too late. I have a cold and so do my kids, so better get more rest than usual.

more news guys, if you do decide to pre-order the game and then log into gamespot you can get a early access code which will unlock the full game now rather than on its release......
here's the email i received with the info....
"Please note that the code is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed.
Following the demo you will be given access to purchase Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and play prior to the official release! If you receive a demo code from GameSpot and have already pre-ordered the game from Steam, you will be able to download the trial mode and be able to get the pre-ordered game before 9/28/10. Log into Steam with your credentials, enter your key and download your pre-ordered game."
and here's the link for the gamespot promo the download is 2,825.1 MB
so i nice little bonus for those that wish....enjoy -
just a heads up guys, the patch for online co-op has been released, it allows for local co-op, find a game, create a game or quick game modes...... cant wait to play this game in co-op mode.
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Finished this in SP and really enjoyed it. Co-op should be a blast. I think there's some DLC coming too IIRC?
-
This reminds me of a combination of:
Diablo II
Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Xmen Legends -
yeap thoroughly enjoyed the sp campaign, really looking forward to teaming up with a mate and working through the co-op story, and dlc as well sweet.
i havent been able to find any online games yet thoughhopefully its just because of first day patch and not lack of interest.
-
Man this game is awesome in co-op mode! Had a great time playing this with a forum member here. If anyone else wants to play co-op with me, hit me up on steam: falcon64z8, but at least tell me you are from here so I don't hit decline.
-
I have played every single Tombraider more then once!!
I just love every bit of those games!!!
I am just afraid that i will not like this one tho -
-

I just got this while it was on sale.
Didnt care for the demo much, but figured co-op may be fun.
Definitely would like to get on the Mumble server and get some co-op games in with you guys.
