If you haven't played either of them you should pick it up. As for your performance, I run at medium-ish settings at 1920x1080 on my mobility HD2600 so you should have much better performance.

L4D 2 should run okay on your gpu, as long as you have a good dual core cpu.
Just dont expect it to run everything at max or even medium as the zombies will ruin your fps. xD
    Take revenge by killing them.

Should run L4D 2 without any problems, as its nearly the same as L4D.

L4D2 puts a lot more stress on a system than L4D.

I have both and have run them on a couple of different PCs and laptops to test.

Great games! Watch for specials on Steam.

I don't know. I am running a 2.5ghz penryn, 4 gig ram, M8800GTX and get 40-100 FPS at high settings at 1400 by 900 resolution with no No AA/4xAF. It cAN dip into the LOW 30's during big hordes. 40 FPS does feel sluggish to me. This is much worse than l4d. I don't know how poeple are getting great FPS with 8700GT's and the HD 2600's. If you have a 360 I may go that route instead if you can deal with a controller...
