One change I'm excited for: "The scoreboard now shows the numeric value of a player's ping". Finally!
-
Valve listens to its customers!
They've fixed most of the major issues that have been brought up on the Steam forums, this patch is brilliant.
The only negative is that "flaming hunters" now don't do ANY extra damage which is really confusing, considering that the use of "flaming hunters" is one of the most widespread and useful tactics in the game.
Now for the REALLY good news: The extra content is coming very soon. -
-
I'm very happy for this patch, although there is one flaw worth noting:
Honestly, even without that particular buff, I'm happy. The Tank can now crawl through vents to attack survivors, which used to be a guaranteed deathtrap for the Tank.
Of course, the AoE damage punch will be awesome once they get it working. -
Hmmm darn Im gonna miss the tank being parked
-
Ahh the good old days. Three hunters standing next to a fire source, waiting for the boomer to make a good puke. Then they charge towards the enemy in a crescendo of flaming death.
(I'm sure they will revert this, due to the outcry on the Steam forums. Also it seems like an oversight because the Patch notes say "reduced" rather than eliminated).
This is correct, and I'm sure they will fix it soon.
Finally we have a counter for the Shiva Stacking exploit. -
Great that they finally addressed a bunch of issues with the game, but I am still waiting for the major content update!!!!
-
The Left 4 Dead Editor's Choice Edition is going to be released on April 21, which will include all the patches to date, including the upcoming DLC. Personally, I'm assuming they'll release the DLC on its own the same day. -
Also how will it be the Editors Choice Edition if there is nothing to choose from? The Unreal Tournament 2k4 Editors Choice Edition had the best mods that the developers chose included with it so what the heck are the editors choosing? -
Err, my bad. It's called the Critic's Choice Edition.
I guess the "choices" involve the fixes proposed by the game's critics, like on the forums. -
Ah, makes more sense now.
Thanks! -
Yeah, I'm retarded. It was 4 in the morning when I posted that, and I just bought UT2004 Editor's Choice edition this week.
-
i also like that smoker can shoot through common infected now as they won't break his tongue.
the flaming smoker update has already pissed off a lot of people.
however, i think this update will be slightly nice (although Valve said they would come out with the DLC and the SDK last year... way to be punctual). if the SDK comes out, the game will advance very fast. -
Yeah, cool. Too bad there isn't any new maps or guns around still. The game gets old quick with the current ones :/
-
-
-
One other thing: our party got trapped in a safe room by a tank, but he couldn't break down the door. I've seen it happen before the patch, so I'm not sure if something got messed up with the update or if it was a fluke.
-
. Overall, it's great update! Finally tank will spawn at different places for each team again, and now it's sure better to be a smoker.
-
-
). It's fun pouncing the survivors from high spots (if there were any).
-
Oh yeah, one more thing. I noticed tanks spawning in different locations in co-op. I didn't really notice any major difference in other special infected spawning.
-
Meh, this game is still boring. They spend too much effort changing things I thought were perfectly fine. Letting the tank punch through walls was useful for when noobs camped somewhere. Should be able to just run in and hit them all now. They just need to focus on the DLC instead of mostly useless updates. The smoker should be nice though.
-
Yea, I'm excited for the smoker updates. I like playing as smoker, but not being able to pull through common infected was a big pain. Hopefully I can play sometime this weekend.
-
yesterday was a bad night for my team to find out about the tank camp thing
-
Co-op and Versus are very different.
Most of these patches apply to Versus and not to co-op.
Tanks always spawn randomly in co-op mode. In Campaign mode, most events (Tank, witch, horde, medkits) are random. If you die on an Expert campaign, play again and everything will be in a different place. -
Hm, looks interesting. I love to play as a hunter. And I never really caught myself on fire because I'm the hunter that you see wall jumping across the alley your in above you to scare the crap out of you and make you shoot in the air at my dust
Than wall jumping off the dead-end-wall of the alley onto a survivor
-
-
-
Looks good, except for the flaming Hunter and Tank parking parts. Parking tanks is strategy, I think they should change it back.
-
-
I finally got a 25 damage pounce the other day on Blood Harvest, it was epic.
-
It was on (I forget which its called) But its the level where right out the saferoom your in like a greenhouse thats on top of apartments. Than you go out the door and across the two roofs on the wooden plank.
Well, I was a hunter and I was crouched on top of the roof right there, a Boomer vomited on two of the survivors and the other two were walking that plank across the buildings, I pounced knowing one of the survivors would get nudged off the plank, so that survivor didn't die but he couldn't get pulled up because I was pouncing the survivor he was with (Think it was Bill and Louis). After killing the one I pounced, I leaped onto Zoey who had been fighting off the normal zombies from the vomit in the corner, and a smoker grabbed Francis.
Man was the voicechat full of laughs on that run -
-
I always wondered why I never heard or saw more bad jokes about coming out of closets.
-
Yeah those are awesome. There are LOADS of good places to get a 25 damage pounce in No Mercy, just check Youtube for some of the best ones. (Basically get to the top of a builing).
Walljumping is also really spectactular, you can scale tall buildings in less than a second. Even better if you can get a walljump-25-damage pounce at the end.
On the Steam Forums, it's known as the "Tom Cruise" defense. -
-
OMG sorry for that.
(My internet connection went a bit crazy back then).
I can't see the triple post now, has it been removed? -
To get back on topic...it looks like they made another smaller patch today that fixes the Tank's AoE punch. I'm excited! -
-
Thanks for that, I appreciate it.
Also yes, they have released a secondary patch to fix the first patch. The Tank AOE punch is awesome! I can't wait to see a Tank punch all 4 stacking survivors off the roof in the NM5 finale.
LOL, I guess no one has given a name to that. Oh well. -
Would that work? -
-
That's true, but I still want to see 4 survivors flying off the roof, just for the comical value alone.
Not sure, maybe we should try it out and see if it works.
