Ok so I am thinking about getting L4D for pc, however, I don't want the game itself to be installed on to my computer (like the whole game so you wouldnt need a disc to play). Is there an option to do such a thing while installing a game?
I don't really want to do this for a variety of reasons, the 2 foremost being that my downloaded games from steam/games installed completly onto steam make my new P-7811FX over heat....and also because I don't want to take up like 5 or 6 gigs of HDD for a video game...
P.S. THE DEMO IS AWESOME!
Thanks,

The game must be entirely installed and wont run off the disk no matter what you do. Installing a game to the hard drive versus off the disk should have zero impact on heat. If you have Halflife2 or any other source engine game installed, it wont take up as much extra space as it would without.

There should have a customize install option when your installing the game usually it lets you pick where you want the game to install. It might also have options to not install certain things like language packs. >.> btw I've never heard of steam making a computer overheat.

well I certainly notice the difference per say running crysis on high or bioshock max'd out via disc and running games like the witcher or l4d demo that have been downloaded to my steam....like i touch the ventilator and it is on FIRE (not literally of course)..
However for crysis/bioshock I can be in a warm room and its just a tad bit hotter then when im browsing the web...aka pretty darn cool.
so yea any explainations? -

If your computer is overheating than there is an obvious problem with it. Try cleaning out all of the dust and purchase a good cooling pad for it.
If those two things do not help out much then contact the manufacturer. -
