The title is my attempt at being funny. Sorry.

Anyway, with the second game coming out, people--mostly those boycotter people--think that Steam is going to drop support for Left 4 Dead. It may be so. No new content, bugs unaddressed, etcetera. I really don't care, since we have oodles of fan-made content to keep the game fresh. Namely the campaigns, since I don't really play Survival or Versus mode.

Anyway, in the spirit of making sure people don't get bored with Left 4 Dead (which means more people to play with), here's a list of maps I have downloaded and played, with Soviet and Element joining me on many of the maps. Campaigns listed have all their maps nominally finished, though some are still in beta stages. Check frequently to ensure you have the most up-to-date map.

(To install a map, just unzip the .vpk file to your Left 4 Dead addon folder, i.e. Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\addons)

    FORGE'S TOP 3
Heaven Can Wait - "We shall all be there, first or last."
" Guys, this has one of the THE most screwed up finales I've ever played."
--Forge/Chairman Mao to his teammates. (Later turns out to be an exaggeration in the grand scheme of things, but if you're coming off of standard maps, it sure is screwed up)

Coal'd Blood - "This ain't no miner setback."
" Wait. The elevator went down. Why are we on top of a mountain now?"
    --Forge's/Mao's Steam friend

Left 4 Deadcity Campaign - "Play nice or play dead"
" Ahhhhh! The rails are electrified!"
--Forge/Chairman Mao, stepping on the subway railings

    ELEMENTAL'S TOP 3
    Night Terror
" Traps? There aren't any traps. I call shenannigans, Mao."
--Soviet Sunrise, obliviously avoiding a trap

    Death Aboard
    " lol a balloon?"
--Elemental, upon seeing the rescue vehicle

Vienna Calling - "...But there's no one left to answer."
"Damn, that's how they roll in Italy."
--Forge/Mao, after Elemental drowns/is boiled alive in the poisonous/acidic/apparently Italian-drinkable canal water

    SOVIET SUNRISE'S FAVORITE MAP
    M-I-C: Military Industrial Complex
    " I LOVE THIS MAP!"
--Soviet Sunrise, upon witnessing Elemental punched fifty yards through the air by no less than four tanks. At the same. Fricking. Time.

    OTHER MAPS
7 Hours Later - "They're still alive, for now..."

Cold Fear - "Its last hope to survive"

Escape From Toronto: A New Nightmare - "Going down on the great white North."

Silent Hill 1 - "Every town has its secrets... some are just darker than others."

Death Row - "Lock up your fears or meet your maker."

Chaos Theory - "Shredding the last remnants of your mind."
    " Uhhhh..."
--Elemental, upon coming across five witches crying in front of the safe room.

Cape Murder (formerly They Did What?)
" Mao, don't shoot the gnome!"
--Forge's/Mao's Steam friend, right before Mao shoots the gnome

Suicide Blitz - "Winning isn't everything. Surviving is."

    Carnage

Black Out - "Someone's got to pay the bill."

Dead On Time - "Final Train... End of the line."

Death Stop - "It's their last stop... on their way to hell."

Interesting, I might download some of those maps to check them out. I just tried Crash Course DLC and it was rather bleh.

I bet the fans can come up with some amazing maps!

If you're in a pinch for time I'd not recommend MIC or Vienna Calling. Both are rather long maps.

I'll try to get forge in for this weekend and we can retry MIC. hardest. map. ever. At one point on Advanced I counted 9 tanks in 1 room.

Yes. And the room didn't even stay still lol. the floor would drop out from beneath you and you'd have to hop over to the other side mario-style while avoiding the (now flaming, ty molitov) tanks.

They are all online. Me Forge and Soviet usually do co-op campaigns with them, I rarely ever do single player.

Creative people have no need for four letter words!

You can start wars with far longer words.

The hardest maps I've ever played was actually a mod. There are a lot of unreasonable mods out there, but this particular server spawned three hunters at a time. Sorta like Versus. It was a refreshing change.

All other mods I've played on coop have been unreasonable ez or hard ones.

there was one we played that spawned 4-5 hunters at a time, you remember that one Forge? In the office building where we had to go up/down the elevator?

Oh dear God, yes. But at least we got upgrades--faster firing, more health, more bullets, etcetera--to compensate. Sort of. We did get pwned.

(By the way, my bad Chaz.)

The mod I'm thinking of only made changes to the number of specials that appeared at a time. You don't fully adjust until after the second map......

L4D2 has tons more content than L4D. After playing the demo L4D2 is most certainly worth the $45 if you pre-order or less if you do a group pack buy (split the cost; $34 per person).

What I like about L4D2 is a lot of the environments are brighter and more colorful compared to L4D's more drab appearance. This is mainly due to the inclusion of daytime maps and tons of more detailed level design.

    Map list updated, slightly.

"They Did What?" is now known as "Cape Murder". You must delete They Did What? before installing Cape Murder.

Great list Forge! I've been looking at my own list to see if I could help add some more maps to what you have already, but you pretty much have everything that I have already!

I recommend these custom campaigns to everyone. It is really great to play something fresh and different in my opinion.

My favorite map out of the custom campaigns has got to be Night Terror. It is a great departure away from the typical running through the streets of a city, office building, etc. Everyone should try it out to see what I mean. :p
