Hey everyone, I just got l4d2 yesterday and it is running smoothly, very smoothly in fact. But today I played on a map called welcome to hell (downloaded it) and sometime later on it got really smooth, I mean REALLY smooth. Like there wasnt nay choppinies what so ever. I was wondering if there is something I can do to keep it like that. its fine the way it is but it was nice having it really smooth.

The reccomended settings are on high but I bring it down to medium so it wont be so choppy.

well a publicly made map will most likely not contain the detail or amount of zombies or general complexity of a valve made map, so i would say it was easier on your machine which is probably why it ran better.
    just my opinion.

Welcome To Hell is actually fairly complex, though since I have vsync on I can't tell what my FPS is. Try Left 4 Deadcity II. That might give you framerate issues, haha.

Not constant horde, but they come quite often. There's also lots of triggerable events.

    I should make a Left 4 Thread 2.

Left 4 Dead 2 is a fantastic game, it ran on my ThinkPad T61p like a champ, very smooth and none of that crappy motion blur, god i hate motion blur... GTA 4 scared me away from motion blur too... for good. With it's "everything looks a little better if you just rub some vaseline on it" or "that cake that you turned into charcoal in the oven will look fine! just rub some whipped cream all the hell over it!"

Hey now! That gives me an idea, maybe i'll start up GTA 4, with blur disabled, and rub my screen with vaseline to see if it truly is "vaseline blur" and if i can achieve the same result, i probably could with a thin enough even application!

Depending on the OP's set up, L4D2 takes no resources what so ever. Now im not saying the game is outdated but it runs on the aged steam engine (steam 2 around the corner with portal 2 :) ) and pretty much any card released within the last year runs the game at 150 FPS with full settings. Could just be a case of good optimization though.
