So...
While i LOVE steam, i like having the actual discs too (i have a physical orangebox, physical counterstrike, ect)...
So is the retail Left for Dead going to do that too, where you buy the retail then add it to steam?

I'm going to say *probably.* As owners of the STEAM platform, they probably want to make it more widespread by making people use it. Only the non VALVE games seem to have a non STEAM version in store (COD4, BioShock, Rainbow Six). I try to get as many games from STEAM now, because DRM is plaguing the retail market. STEAM guarantees that I can install my games any way I want to. Which is great!

well same... and discs scratch ect...
but i like having the disc, because if i want to play NOW, then id have to wait hours for it to download, and i do lots of reinstalls, so having the discs are nice...
any one know for a fact? -
Ya i think im going to side with MGS2392 becouse the game was made by steam. So why wouldnt they want it not to be able to play on a steam account...

As long as it's a Valve game, it'll work both ways. You can buy the retail version and get the discs for installation and steam registration or buy it direct online and backup the files to DVDs.
The only reason I buy games retail now because they are discounted on opening day releases (typically at Fry's). -
Thanks
now all steam needs to do is let me add my non valve retail games i got before i had steam -
I am going to say definately yes, it will take a tad longer though in my opinion to get it through the retail stores, a day or a week but I suspect no longer

This is a valve game either way you buy it. You won't have to add a non steam game, because this is a steam game. Buying it in store gives you the same thing as downloading + a box. You can redownload later too if you happen to lose the disc.
STEAM DOWNLOAD = RETAIL
