Hello, I just bought a new laptop from Lenovo and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I can play these games. I have a hard time understanding game requirements and hardware so any help would be greatly appreciated.
IdeaPad Y580 Specs:
CPU: i7 2.4GHz (3rd Gen)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M 2.0 GB (Kepler)
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Games I'd like to play at medium settings in full 1080p.
-Dark Souls (this is the primary game I will be playing)
-Dead Space 1 and 2
-Diablo III
-Skyrim
-STALKER Call of Pripyat (I also plan on playing this, I loved the first one)
Thanks!,
-Rev

Keep in mind I think you need to use a mod in order to play Dark Souls at 1920x1080.
(The vanilla game is locked to 1120x720 PS3 render resolution.) -

OP, the 660m is more than enough to handle those games. You'll be able to max them all out with the exception of Skyrim (it'll run well at ultra settings but lowered aa) -
Thanks everyone for the swift responses. You have given me a relief, I am very happy that I will be able to play these games. I currently own a Toshiba Satellite L655, which as an i5 m460 2.6GHZ GPU, 4GB RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. I am expecting a boost in performance!

You should be pleased with the 660m, it's a good upgrade from the 5650. Enjoy!

I too went from a ATI 5650 to the NVIDIA 600 series although it's a 650M so not quite as fast as the 660M.
From my experience Dead Space 1 & 2 will run at maximum with full AA. Even my 5650 ran these maxed out at 1080p! They're not demanding at all.
Skyrim I can play maxed out with AA. My native screen is 1366x768 though. But seing as you have the faster 660M I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't max it at 1080p.
STALKER should be no problem either.
Dark Souls is a tricky one. They had numerous issues porting from the console versions (as they had zero experience with the PC platform) so performance drops in some places nomatter what system it is being played on. It will still run reasonably well for the most part.
I haven't played Diablo 3 so can't comment. However, I don't think I've read anything about it being overly taxing. It should be fine.
Enjoy the new laptop! -

look at the bottom of that page and it shows FPS for a bunch of different games. Hopefully that helps you. -
Realistically you should be able to play any of today's games at 1080p.
The Notebookcheck scores are a little lower than I would expect, maybe they were taken using older drivers. I'm getting P2812 with a slightly overclocked (no bios mod) 650m.
