How well would the Lenovo Y580 run Skyrim on the 1080p resolution at ultra? It should be near 30FPS but i hear the GTX 660m performs badly on it - any ideas?

You have to overclock to get higher performance (see my sig)

And install new drivers for your GTX 660M

Theoretically it should pull 50FPS+ on 720p with all details on ultra, and 25FPS+ on 1080p :)

So from out of the box what do I need to do to get the 25fps+? What drivers should I use?

In my opinion, a step up in resolution is better looking than a step up in quality, eg. 1080p low setting > 720p Medium setting. I can easily get a constant 37+ FPS with a 650m 1GB GDDR5 at 1080p Low-Mid settings, I haven't even tried with an OC and power state reports disabled for CPU performance.

What hardware and what resolution / quality is this 37 fps?

Earlier question too - what do I need to do out of box to get this 25fps? What drivers ?

I get a constant 30-60 FPS on Ultra detail with the HD texture pack @ 1366x768 (I have the non-FHD model Y580).

On my MSI GE60 (same spec) I'm getting an average of about 50FPS with almost constant 60FPS in indoor areas and the lowest - extremely rare - dips being around 30-32FPS (this mostly happens when I and my followers enter water for which I have an improved physics mod).

From a thread I'm in on another forum:

Turn down the AA and you'll do even better.
