Hi,
as i was browsing my graphic's card 'settings i noticed the following:
![]()
I asume that the shared system memory is memory from my ram?
1,5GB of shared system memory is a bit to much for me so is there any way i can put this value down?
I have also noticed that vista finds 3582MB ram, i know this is because of 32 bit OS, but i would like to know if the shared system memory (for graphic) uses the other 500MB of my ram and not the memory vista found, so i do use all of the 4gb ram.
i'm sorry, this text is a bit difficult but i'm not a pro in expressing myself in english![]()

Okay...I think I can help.
1) The shared memory is controlled by the driver and Vista, with no way to alter it AFAIK.
2) That shared memory is only claimed for use when it is needed. Right now Vista is not going to use 1.5GB of memory to just idly share. Though 1.5 does sound a bit high, you do have 4GB...
3) No, the other ~500MB is consumed by the BIOS to address various parts of your computer. You are actually only using 3.5GB of RAM.
4) A 64bit OS (which I do not recommend right now) would use all 4GB. -
