Here is the situation... im currently using a DV9535nr hp notebook for the time being while mine is getting repaired(check signature for specs) the big concern here is why does this notebook FREEZE sometimes when im playing battlefield 2 or even supreme commander when my notebook NEVER EVER gave me this type of issue before.I mean here's the specs ( core2duo, 2gig of ram 667h, Nvidia 8600gs, vista home premium, pretty much everythings the same except the the downgrade from 1.66 to 1.5gh and more HD space and of course vista.) If it seems like the comparison is so little, why am i experiencing such a drag when playing my favorite games? I mean does the vista really make such a difference in software compatibility or is it the mere fact that its lacking in processor power? I know for a fact that the vid card has higher potential than mine but for it to cause freeze ups and lag at moments( and i mean HUGE lag issues where u cant play for a while till it fixes back up) is not worth it. Can someone help or is anyone else experiencing the same problem???

That guide will get you up and running in no time. The XP Compatability mode instructions are listed in there as well. -
Thanks Ill give it a try and see if MAYBE its the compatibility. Tho its strange because I would imagine HP would be hitting the mark with this laptop with the overall price and value that its brings... i mean idk if it was the wrong purchase tho to be honest. The reason why i have it in my possession is the fact its DX10 compatible. well who knows... I sure dont anymore

It's not HP's fault. Most of what you're experiencing is software related. Vista has alot of bugs at the moment. Just wait until the beginning of next year and they're suppose to release SP1 which should fix most of the issues you're experiencing. The guide that I posted lists some Vista patches that may help you as well.
Goodluck. -
Hey so far so good... If anyone has one of the battlefield series should deff switch the compatibility mode to xp... It solved the freeze up it use to get. Thanks for that link to the thread.

No problem glad you got your problem fixed. I give Lithus all the credit on this one though lol.
