You pretty much named all three.

    14x, Y470, and ASUS 43SN

LG P330 is coming out in the future, as is the ASUS N45SF

so at a moment nothing else is available? because i count off m14x, and then deciding between 43sn and y470. i can get 43sn 7-2630QM/8GB/750/BRCombo in europe for 1146$, and im going to usa at the end of august, and can get basically the same spec (minus blu ray which i dont use anyway, and 250GB less hdd) y470 for 840-1000$, and just wondering about other models. But i guess nothing else is really available? then ill go with lenovo... good brand, plus good deals in usa.

Is it known which version of the 555M will be in the LG? I'm betting on 128-bit DDR3.

    Aren't the two versions 192-bit DDR3 or 128-bit GDDR5?

Why would they make so many versions of the same card? Seems scandelous.

why would you want that. if you have a lower res screen then it can run more games at higher settings without having to use non native resolution.

I'm not buying a laptop primarily for gaming. 1366x768 is a nightmare for doing any kind of real work on a desktop. Plus 1280x720 looks quite alright for gaming on a 1920x1080 screen actually. Although on a 14" 1080p is a stretch, but the Sony Vaio Z did it on a 13". If I went with 14" 1600x900 would be ok by me I guess.

    GT525 or better in a 13-14" chassis. The 14" MSI X460DX is a beastly box. GT540M with a i7-quad in a 4.4lbs (2kg) chassis with an optical drive.

    Code:
    13" LG P330$ 3.63lbs (1.65kgs). GT555M.
    13" Acer 3830TG$ 4.11lbs (1.87kgs). 1.14" thick. GT540M. Poor cooling=throttling requires DIY FIX.
    14" MSI X460DX 4.40lbs (2.00kgs). 1.14" thick. GT540M.
    14" Asus U41SV$ 4.40lbs (2.00kgs). 1.06" thick. GT540M.
    14" Gateway ID47 4.60lbs (2.09kgs). 1.13" thick. GT540M (though only have HD3000 model in US atm).
    14" Acer 4830TG 4.77lbs (2.17kgs). 1.17" thick. GT540M.
    14" Lenovo Y470 4.85lbs (2.20kgs). 1.29" thick. GT550M. mSATA, quad-core opt.
    14" Asus U46SV 4.85lbs (2.20kgs). 1.06" thick. GT540M. 8-cell bat.
    14" Lenovo Z470 4.85lbs (2.20kgs). 1.34" thick. GT540M.
    14" Samsung QX411 4.98lbs (2.26kgs). 1.07" thick. GT525M.
    15" MSI GE620DX 5.28lbs (2.40kgs). 1.50" thick. GT555M/1080P.

@ nando4, so is lenovo y470. has a better gpu, plus msata is the thing of the near future. i think thats what im getting... 2630qm, 64gb msata for windows, 500gb 7200 rpm hdd for storage, 2630qm, 550m, for under 1000$ if i buy today (last day for good deal, august 10th) at lenovo.com. I personally dont wanna go to 15 or better. had gateway fx 17 incher. big, heavy... i dont need that crap anymore. If ill decide to buy good gaming laptop, it will be 15 incher. now for daily use, 14 incher for me is the best, plus option with rare gaming 550 can handle anything at native rez at medium settings.

If you don't mind getting aftermarket mSATA SSD (mydigital, renice, runcore, Intel), example: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sol...sata-1-8-sata-ssds-available.html#post6978065 then you can get the Y470 for a lot less than $1k:

    $839 14" Lenovo Y470 i7-2630M 2.0 8GB 750GB GT550M W7HP BD

Thats what i was thinking of, 64gb mydigital, its 119$. so it would be in 950$ range. i dont like 750GB version because of 5400rpm. its for storage, but i prefer 500gb 7200rpm version better. But today is a last day, and i dont know if in the next 1-2 weeks lenovo gonna have similar offers/deals. Im going to usa 28th august-8th september. My friend would do be a favor and order me one, and once i get to usa, i would pay him cash, and get the product.

Sure, that is why you have i7 + their model descriptor (2830QM, etc, etc). Here all the info is 555m and then hope the specs posted on the sellers website are actually accurate.

How many Geforce GT and GTX cards are there? Far more than core i7s.

Can you buy intel CPUs with the same model number and different features/cores/clock speeds? No.

It's not like when you buy a 2720QM it could come as:

    2/4 3ghz 4mb cache
    4/4 2.2ghz 6mb cache
    4/8 2.0ghz 8mb cache
    4/8 2.0ghz 8mb cache (1600mhz memory support added)

So if you get i7-2630QM you have to use integrated GPU? That seems odd. There's only a 10W TDP difference between dual core i5 and quad i7. To me that says they are borderline cooling, which isn't promising.

Well Paladin44 from powernotebooks (from link above) said he's going to test an i7-2630m in a system with GT 540m.

Only thing I could find that actually compared power consumption of CPUs was this with 2820QM:

Intel Core i5-2520M and The Asus K53E Notebook - HotHardware

30W difference. Not real clear though, these sound like from different laptops so hard to get a good difference in actual power draw difference.
