Many of us fall victim to awesome sales of games from Steam or elsewhere but end up with a vast library of games they barely ever get a chance to play. What does your backlog of games look like? Not necessarily ALL games, just the ones you plan on 'catching up on' in the next year or so.
For me it's:
Crysis 3 (half-way through I think)
Bioshock 2
Bioshock Infinite
Tomb Raider 2013
And that's about it. I have a huge list of games I likely will never touch, but they exist. Too bad I can't let someone else borrow them until I get time. Such is the way of the 21st century I guess.
-
For me it is Skyrim, as I have to change houses and PC every week, keeping save games up sometimes gets left behind, so instead of playing the same part I done the previous week I don't play for a week, that week turns into a month and now im here and still nowhere near finished it
Far Cry 3, was about 50-60% through, then it would not read my save game, couldnt do anything to get it back so uninstalled it after getting somewhat angry at it
Borderlands 2, friends had stuff to do so had to pause for a month and never got back around to it.
I am playing Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider now, maybe when I finished them I''ll get back to Skyrim -
LOL that list would be too long. There is so many I want to play but I never have the time.
-
Actually for this year I quite have big plans to get control of the backlog, but it's going to be hard, as it's already hundred of games. The shortlist for the next month would be:
Resident Evil 6
Bioshock Infinite
Max Payne 3
Battlefield 3
Shift 2 Unleashed
But I must admit, that I really do intend to play and finish more than 90% of my Steam and Origin Library. Without the DLC's etc I think it's getting to almost 400 already.
The last couple of Games that I've finished this year would be:
Karateka
Dear Esther
Tomb Raider
Aliens Colonial Marines
DmC Devil May Cry
Medal of Honor Warfighter
Need for Speed The Run -
Finishing the very last island of Far Cry 3, since it got boring after I unlocked everything and
killed Vaas, who was one of the main reasons I enjoyed the game so much
Killing Deus Ex Human Revolution's FIRST boss
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Wings of Prey's campaign
Waiting for a price drop on Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC so I could continue that
Get to finish the second level of Dishonored already
Finish my Crusader King 2's campaign and try a new one with the CK++ mod
Get to finish my England campaign in Empire Total War
Continue with Torchlight 2
Continue with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (surprisingly one of the most fun I've had recently)
Finish the Red Alert 3's campaign and continue to the expansion
So...yeah...quite the backlogLuckily I had a trouble purchasing Bioshock Infinite, otherwise I would be stuck with that, as well
-
Pretty much most of the games I own, unfortunately. Thanks to school work and other stuff in my life that keeps me busy this semester:
Amnesia: The Dark Descent (don't even know if I want to play this lol...)
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Company of Heroes (need to finish)
CoH: Opposing Fronts (ditto)
Darksiders
Hitman: Absolution
Metro 2033
Red Fraction: Armageddon
Civ5
Super Meat Boy (need to finish)
Supreme Commander 2 (played a little, though not as fun as CnC Generals)
Mirror's Edge (need to finish) -
My list isn't that long.
Tomb Raider
Dishonored+DLC (never finished it, gonna start again)
Crysis 3 (at the final boss)
Hitman Absolution
Sniper Ghost Warrior 2
Dead space 3 (maybe)
I just finished BioShock Infinite that game is sooo awesome I can't believe it. 10/10

My list for this year is.
All Assassin's Creed (Started them Never finished them)
Resident Evil 6 (Only about 3 hours in)
Sniper Ghost Warrior 1 & 2
Dead Space 3
Hitman Absolution
Just Finished Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite
I have a few others on the list but can't remember, At work right now -
moviemarketing Milk Drinker
I'd say you might never "finish" Skyrim. Especially if you play on a higher difficulty setting or with some mods like ASIS, Deadly Combat and Deadly Dragons that make every combat encounter quite challenging. I've played it for hundreds of hours since launch and haven't done most of the quest lines or come anywhere near exhausting the content of the vanilla game, and still have the DLC left as well as tons of good quest mods. -
Games I will complete:
Bioshock: Infinite
Crysis 2
Deus Ex: HR The Missing Link
Fallout 3: New Vegas
Red Orchestra 2: Heroes Of Stalingrad
Alan Wake
X:COM: Enemy Unknown
Games I will probably play:
Alan Wake
Bioshock 2
Dead Space 1&2
Dragon Age: Origins
Torchlight 2
Metro 2033
Portal
Anno 2070 -
My list is quite long. Mainly because I can't run most of these well and will wait till I get my new lappy later this year.
Here I go:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Batman: Arkham City
Far Cry 3
GTA IV Episodes from Liberty City
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
Crysis 1
Crysis 3
Tomb Raider
The Walking Dead (NOT Survival Instinct)
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
The Witcher 2
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Borderlands 1 (never did finish that final DLC)
Shank
Shank 2
Dark Souls
Bioshock 2
Homefront
Minecraft? (Yes I don't have this yet)
Mafia II
Dishonored
Games that I want le better computer to play through again/finish properly:
Metro 2033
Skyrim
Fallout 3
GTA 4
GTA 5 (let's face it, it'll end up on PC at some point =P)
Sniper Elite V2
Just Cause 2
The Amazing Spider-Man
Crysis Warhead
Crysis 2
Dead Island
Ninja Blade
Stalker: Call of Pripyat
Saint's Row: The Third
The Amazing Spider-Man
Prototype 2
Splinter Cell Conviction
Borderlands 2
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Black Ops 2 campaign (I wanna find all the secrets... with ALL the bells and whistles turned on)
And finally, the most anticipated and demanding game of 2013.... Runescape 3... -
After I get through my 2nd Skyrim play through doing pure mage on legendary difficulty and tackling dragonborn while doing it:
Started need to finish:
Dishonored
BG:ee
legend of grimrock
Mafia 2
Dungeon siege 3
Dark souls
Need to start or played so little starting over:
Inquisitor
Batman arkham city
Darksiders 1 and 2
Hitman: absolution
XCOM: enemy unknown
Then at some point I need to buy:
Tomb raider
BioShock infinite
The backlog past this is so long it's humorous to even imagine I will ever play them..
Edit: Knew I was going to forget stuff.. -
Threads like this are part of the reason I stopped buying the humble bundles and indie gala bundles.
-
Why? I love humble bundles =D.
-
What this guy said x2.
I'll also add Metro 2033 and the crysis 1 and 2 series. These are what are on my desktop ready to play 24/7. -
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
lol, add Hitman Absolution to HTWingNut's list
-
I kinda gave up on metro2033 since you can't toggle your aim to "click to aim" hopefully last light will be different..

I liked earlier Hitman games.
-
Hmm, ones that might actually happen in the next year?
Deus Ex: Invisible War
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Either Empire or Napoleon Total War
Half-Life 2: Episode 1
Either FUEL or GRID
There's a few other Steam/Gamersgate backlog games I might get around to at some point, but those are some of the bigger ones I'd like to at some point.
On the plus side, I'm buying fewer games lately with the already-existing backlog. Now it's back to "I'm going to play this now/soon" instead of "This sounds cool to play someday" when I buy a game. -
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
-
Yeah, I much prefer SP games anyhow. Only hit one maybe two MP games in a year.
-
I just play BF3 and Dota multiplayer nowadays, single player is certainly much more entertaining
-
I preffer MP but i cant say no to good SP game.
-
Torchlight II
Sims 3
Guild Wars 2
That's about it for me. -
This is the backlog I have INSTALLED now in Steam and Origin and not played yet:

Fable: Lost Chapters -
I have a ton of games installed or ready to download from Steam and have not played. I sadly get wrapped up in old staples like CS:S/CS:GO and L4D2 online. I would like to get into Skyrim, Deus Ex and Portal 2. Skyrim is overwhelming as I haven't ever really gotten into those type of games but do think I would enjoy it if I put in the time. Deus Ex I have started but don't really enjoy it yet (and the reviews were so positive). I almost finished Portal so have been waiting on starting Portal until I finish the first one. I forgot to mention Rage. I am into that game and would like to finish that one.
I purchased a lot of games because they were dirt cheap but likely will never play much of them: Splinter Cell Conviction, the FEAR franchise (I loved the original and have replayed that) and a few other games. I still replay Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2 but have held off on Crysis 3 because I am not hearing that I will play it at very high settings with my rig unfortunately.
Edit: I also have the Walking Dead franchise and am only 75% through the first chapter but can't seem to really get into it. I find it rather boring. Hopefully I can get into it or these "sales" mean nothing if I don't play them. Basically every game I buy which I don't play is a complete loss...even if it's 80% off! -
I've stopped buying games for awhile...been good at resisting deals since I know I probably won't get to play a lot of them. I did get some recent titles though.
My list of SP games to finish:
Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Metro 2033
Tomb Raider
Bioshock Infinite
Borderlands 2 DLC
Deus Ex: HR
My longer list of MP games:
Crysis 3 MP
League of Legends
Guild Wars 2
DotA 2
Path of Exile
CS:GO
L4D2
I prefer MP games 'cause it's easy to just jump in and play a quick match or two or just log on do some stuff and just log out. Also good for playing with friends. SP games I tend to play when I have more time, so I can experience more of the story in large chunks or all at once. Just like sat down one day on the weekend and played through Crysis 3 (damn the campaign was too short) lol. -
Currently on the last chapter of Crysis 3 (wich i have to say although short is awesome !)
Backlog
Crysis 2
Borderlands 2
Heart of a swarm (sc2)
Metro 2033
Farcry 3
Oh and Batman which was cheap on steam lol!
I think restarting Final Fantasy 11 to play with friends has halted any fast progress in that list!
-
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
lol! you have a lot of complaining yet to do -
Skyrim (Can't believe I haven't played it yet)
Stuck on Torchlight 2 atm. -
Games I need to complete during these holidays:
Bioshock Infinite
Tomb Raider
Crysis 1, 2, 3
Doom + expansion
Not sure how that's gonna happen on top of LoL spam -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
mgs2, the second half of mgs1 or twin snakes from the beginning, re1 remake, re2, deus ex hr, the walking dead (telltale), kotor
-
Ohhhhh boy... Currently 40% in batman arkaham asylum... games on back log in order hopefully
Metro 2033
Bioshock Infinite (I played 10 minutes of it on a 900p screen...I am now selling my laptop and getting one with 1080p and sli or crossfire videocards. Only game I have felt so strongly about. I didnt want to ruin it by playing it on normal and get 40 fps, and on a washed out screen...)
Stalker: call of pripyat
New Amnesia when it comes out
Metro: New light
Bioshock 1
Bioschok 2 depending on if Bioshock 1 is good
Also PayDay 2 when it comes out, one of my best-friends is super excited about it. Those are my plans...ha -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
Sins of a Solar Empire rebellion
and thats pretty much it, there is no exciting rpg out, or a good strategy game that I want to play, and there Rome 2 TW, but that is when it comes out
I will just keep playing SWTOR till I get bored, then rehash some of the good oldies, like Napoleon Total War, or Shogun 2 TW, or Rome TW, or World in Conflict, or Rise of Nations. I could try Dragon Age Origins again as well, just add some mods to it, after all those armour from the trailer do look great -
List your backlog of games you *INTEND* to play.
