Well, I know, I thought I could take a chance, but it didn't quite work well. I was planning on upgrading anyways.

I never listen to the system requirements. Usually, the minimum lets you PLAY the game. But being able to PLAY the game isn't enough. I'd stay above the recommended requirements at least to be able to play a game decently... :)

    My 5 cents...

ya vista sets aside 256 mb ram for video no matter how much your gpu has.

It uses over 500 mb from a blank install. I used it with 1 gb and 2 gb and it was a big difference. You need 1.5 gb to run a game

It all depends on the game. Some games run quite well on minimum requirements, others, barely run at all.

I remember back in the day playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the minimum requirements were 400Mhz, 128mb Ram, 16Mb Card. I had 500Mhz, 128mb Ram, and a 16Mb TNT2, yet could still play the game at highish settings.

These days, running the minimum requirements or hovering about them, you are generally going to have to play on the lowest settings, or be prepared to suffer alot of hanging and stuttering.... :(

In these days people want more and more: Bigger screens which results in more need for higher resolutions. I'm not saying it's bad if you want to play at high res with AA on and ofcourse high fps, but it has it's costs. Also textures need to have a higher res in newer games which cost a lot of performance for a pc. (this is not about vista itself ;) )

Well, at least I got a 512MB OCZ SODIMM on it's way. <3 NewEgg. Wasn't too pricey ($57 after tax, shipping, mail in rebates).
