Sorry for the stupid question...I am not a gamer...

I can't figured out how to configure my controller with Crysis 2 on a laptop. I read in internet that I need to download a software called Xpadder.
Is that the only way to do it? Is not possible to set it up trough the game directly?

    Thanks in advance..

Why don't you just play on your console?

If you use a controller in multi-player with Crysis 2, you will just cry and quit. The game is very fast pace and it's all about reflex shots. Controller is 100X too slow. Learn to use a keyboard and mouse or just play on console...

It may take a little bit used to, but almost all PC FPS players end up prefering keyboard and mouse. Like with anything, it just takes a little practice. But it should support controller since it's a console port.

You my friend, are like me, I love the controller hate keyboard and love the mouse, you need a hybrid controller. I bought and LOVE the snot out of the AIMON PS controller found here Tuact.com. This mouse has the face buttons of a controller on the left side of the mouse, has a nunchuck that has an anolog and a dpad with 2 shoulder buttons. All buttons are reconfigurable to keyboard keys and for most games has enough buttons. Theres a few that have too many functions that need a keyboard in lap for, but generally it does the trick, and I've been begging them to allow double key binding.

Other thoughts: Im pretty sure Crysis 2 supports the xbox 360 gamepad, but if your talking about the ps3 controller hooked up you need a specific piece of software for that to run.

Yes, I think Crysis 2 support the Xbox controller, I can see the layout in the Joypad settings, but since I play just once in a while I don't feel like buy a 360 controller... :p
But that AIMON PS rocks! Interesting! I will take a look at the website, I hope I can buy it in EU.

And you got the point... I hate play games on the keyboards...

Imho thats what is killing the pc gaming market.
Console ports are appetitible for those younger gamers that grown up with a console and a gamepad.
But on the other hand it screws up the hardcore pc gamer with lack of support and customizations.
Im fine with pad support on games like driving games, but not on pc fps.
First because if youre older enough you probably played blood, hexen, doom and marathon. Theres nothing precise like keyboard and mouse, second.
Im expecting more devvers to do like crytek did in crysis 2, like disabling console features such aim assist and smoothing/accelleration.
Point is that a pc gamer can own a console player on the same game (like cod or crysis 2) anytime, and it can adopt to the gamepad as well althought it will feel always awkward.
On console player side it doesnt happen the same as he lacks 25 years of pc gaming at the sound of WASD and mouse.
Im hope im not offending anyone, im just stating my opinion.

If you are planning to play FPS games and play more games on PC like Shogun, StarCraft or League of Legends etc, learn to play with keyboard and mouse. It just takes time and practice. Once you get used to it, you'll love it, since you'll be able to do what you can't with consoles. And you'll be doing it knowing it's all you. The whole thrill of PC Gaming FPS is when you get that headshot on a moving opponent. Knowing that was all you. You can't make this claim with console or controller.

FYI, controllers on 360 use FOUR different methods for auto aim.
    1) Autoaim - if you are close enough to the target, you will hit.
    2) Gravity - the game "pulls" your aim towards a target you are close to
    3) Acceleration - you accelerate from 0 to the speed your analog press says you are going so you dont accidently zip past your target
    4) Friction - the turn slows down over a valid target to help you stop where you need to.

Controller on console and on PC is essentially playing with hacks and cheats that keyboard and mouse players would get permanently banned from servers for. CryTek realized this and removed auto-aim from MP for controller which is why controllers are being raped constantly and why controller users have been whining incessantly on official forums. Which BTW is hilarious!

A cheap one, similiar to the playstation one, unfortunately I don't remember the brand, need to check it..

Seems like the keyboard is the everyone's favourite.
Thanks by the way to all, I will train a little bit more with it, and If I get bored I will go back to the only game I know how to play... Fifa.. :p

Actually, the keyboard and mouse does make it easier to play FPS games. I grew up knowing the controller and using that to play some Ghost Recon back then. I just recently picked up Crysis 2 and Killing Floor for the PC and I got the hang of it in a short time.

yukinok25, don't worry about getting used to the keyboard and mouse. They will soon be your best friends in Crysis 2.

keyboard and mouse is more accurate and responsive, but I feel a controller is more immersive.

I have a laptop, I am scared to let myself carried away with Crysis and destroy the keyboard..

    Joking.. :D
