Hi, I want to get into gaming, and would like for you to recommend to me some highly immersive games (games the same type as Myst) with beautiful graphics/environment.

    Thank you. :)

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion with their two expansions and many many mods.

its will easily kill hundreds of hours when you get into it.... especially when you get to wipe out an entire town or make your own spells to turn everyone against each other while you are invisible and watching the mayhem... :D

oblivion, eww. that game has too many flaws i don't know where to begin.

it depends on what you think is immersive. if graphics are your only criteria, myst V is a good start. crysis is another obvious choice.

personally the most immersive game i've ever played was fallout 1 and 2.

Falcon 4 Allied Force. As immersive as you can get. Hop in the ****pit and spend eight hours trying to figure out how to take off, finally take off, fly thirty minutes, and BAM! get blown out of the sky.

I also second Mass Effect. The graphics are beautifully and the game play is flawless. It is also very immersive - you get to traverse an entire galaxy, planet by planet.

First of all what I am about to type is only relevant if when you said Myst you meant the adventure game from 1995. Not the real time strategy game nor the 80s turn based strategy/rpg.

Mass Effect is a great RPG and one of the best games out there, but is hardly the same type as Myst.

Very similar to Myst games: Schizm, Amber: Journeys Beyond, Starship Titanic, and of course all the sequels of Myst.

Try Call of Cthulhu. A great game, very immersive and still an adventure game, although in full 3D and with some dangerous moments in it.

Other similar games are Dracula: Origin, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, The Last Express etc.

Check out the first Knights of the Old Republic. That game is beyond epic and immersive. I couldn't say the same for the second KotOR, though...

Truly there has been nothing more immersive than the MYST series of which the OP has already mentioned.

But if a more 'current' game is being sought after then I highly suggest taking EVE Online for a spin. It won't be for everyone but if you enjoy sci-fi, mmos, micro-managing, character development, ship building, combat, exploration, and a plethora of other features then EVE could be for you.

Or wait until Fallout 3 or Spore comes out.

I'd recommend Oblivion, you can definitely sink some time into that.

I just realized that what I meant by my title "highly immersive game" is an adventure/fantasy game, if that lets you all have any more ideas :)

oblivion kicks ***, but it was too intense for me around finals so i stopped.

bioshock is amazing but short and easy, good for newbies if played on easy.

guildwars is a great mmo to play first, it is just awesome.

try playing some older classics like diablo 2, starcraft, worms Armageddon, and age of empires.

    maybe warcraft three too

The Neverwinter Nights series would also be a good choice.
