So ive played Diablo, Diablo II, and Diablo II:LOD
Over, and over and over again..
Ive played them on single player, bnet, open bnet, with mods, etc.
i have done just about everything in those games a few years back, and now, i would like to try something similar, but more "current."
Can somebody recommend any titles?
and what category would this kinda game fall into? 3rd person RPG?
-
Rumor has it that Diablo 3 is in the works...might want to google that and see what details you can find.
-
dungeon siege/dungeon siege 2 are ripsoffs of diablo 2
morrowind/oblivion
for turnbased rpg-ish game try heroes 5
diablo 3 probably won't come out for at least another year, same goes for SC2 -
im one of those who got too tired to wait for Diablo 3.
cuz ive been hearing about it since like, 03 on diabloii.net
they got me really excited when i found out that there was a blizzard site reserved for diabloiii already, but still, to this day.. nothing.
ill try out these suggestions, thanks. Any other suggestions? -
Mind you, the original team of Diablo and Diablo II are not at Blizzard anymore
-
try "titan quest" heard it would be like the diablo games(but with nice graphics) never have played it myself but someeday I hope I will....
-
Titan Quest is very much like Diablo2 with improved graphics. It is a very good game for Diablo2 fans, although it does not have a Bnet feature, you can still play it with your mates online via TCP-IP. I play it with my friends on LAN, and it's pretty decent.

I know exactly what you're looking for
.
Fate:
http://www.playfate.com/
As with my other suggestions:
Sacred: Gold
I hear Gothic 2 is good and Gothic 3 is coming out soon
You can try any of the recent hack n slash dnd games namly the baldurs gate series, not the old ones for pc but the newer ones.
I'm going to suggest The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.
As someone said earlier dungeon seige games. Though... I prefer the first over the second lol. Second has better graphics though.
----If I think of some more I'll post them. And as far as D3 goes, I don't think it'll be as good as D1 and D2 considering that Bliz North left. Though if you liked D2 I suggest checking out Bliz Norths new game Hellgate:London. Of course they're no longer called Bliz North anymore. -
Cant believe no one mentioned Neverwinter Nights. NWN 2 is almost out also
-
-
But dungeon siege and dungeon siege 2 are alot slower than diablo also, even though NWN is probaly the slowest, it is also a bit more in depth. -
I'm still saying try Fate
It's a complete rip-off of D2, just with better graphics and a DOGGIE!.... or cat if you wanna go that way. (*whispers:* Get the dog) -
-
mage knight apocolyse is sapposed to be diablo like
-
Just get Oblivion and go dungeon delving...I think bad guys respawn after you gain a level or two...and sometimes they get even meaner!
-
OT
Is Sacred Gold as buggy as Sacred? All my laptops crash right at the hallway with the moving blue light beams. It takes me a bout 10 re-starts to get through this one area. Also one of the WORST CD copy protects around..it kills my old pioneer drive
I'm looking ino Fate and Titan Quest..thanks. -
Get Oblivion and install the Adrenaline mod. There you have it, armies of enemies to confront and epic, near-death battles ahead.

shadowflare...

Sacred is a pretty good diablo II type game

You get a demo of it. I think you get to play it for like an hr. So don't let it idle. The game's 20 bucks. It's really fun but it has a major drawback.
YOU DO THE SAME THING EVERY LEVEL!
In fact most of the times the quests are the same just a tab bit harder than the last time. You're always killing something or finding some item.... but wait isn't that what all RPGs do? Not quite, RPGs have story and depth, something this one lacks. Though if you're looking for a time killer it definitly keeps you playing and the graphics are nice, and requirements are low low low.
If you want a good RPG try out World of Warcraft. It's an MMORPG so you're going to need a fast net, but it's really fun.... though you will encounter alot of weirdos.
------
I would try Titan Quest but I have an X200M and I don't think my notebook can play it, but I don't know never really looked at the reqs.
Btw:
I havn't played it but there's a game called Dungeon Lords, I've been meaning to try it out and it looks pretty good but then again it could be like most of the other games I've tried out, complete garbage.
I don't know if I said it already but have you tried Fallout and Fallout 2?
And yes, Sacred Gold is just as buggy.
Since this is a long message here's the games I mentioned:
-Dungeon Lords
-Fallout
-Fallout 2
-Sacred Gold
-World of Warcraft
-Titan Quest
-Fate -
is there any charge for WOW still?
-
Another vote for Titan Quest...very much like Diablo, better than Dungeon Siege 2 (imo).
-
). It has very nice graphics (fairly demanding on your hardware though) and interesting mythological settings from ancient Greece, Egypt, Babylon, and China.
However, IMO the game-play in Titan Quest (e.g. combat, character development, and itemization) isn't nearly as well done as in DII, even though it looks a lot prettier. Also, there is no randomization of the maps in Titan Quest and no equivalent of Blizzard's battle.net for multiplayer. For me, Titan Quest lacked the replayability of any of the Diablo games, and I wouldn't expect to play it for too long --- but it's a polished game that's worth trying.
Dungeon Siege is along similar lines to Diablo, but in the end I found the original Dungeon Siege to be the most boring, execrable thing I've ever experienced. I still wake up with nightmares about it, and I'd rather bore holes in a concrete block with my head than play Dungeon Siege again.
Another possibility is Guild Wars. It's ultimately geared toward PvP, it has a PvE introduction with a rather unique flavor that's centered around completing specific missions.
If you don't mind paying a monthly fee for a while (ok -- feel free to ignore this suggestion) World of Warcraft is worth a try. You can solo or play in small dungeon groups upto the level cap (currently 60) and the world is large and fun to explore IMO, especially the first time through. Once you hit the levle cap, though, WoW becomes a different type of MMORPG raiding game. (There are also PvP battlegrounds.)
For the future, I'm really optimistice that Hellgate:London, made by most of the people who made the original Diablo. (They left Blizzard to form Flagship Studios over a dispute related to Vivendi. It should be out maybe middle of 2007.
Looking for a Diablo-ish game
