Seing as it is very popular to ask people for different types of games, I figured I should give it a go..
I've already played The Legacy of Kain series (the best game in this genre I might add : Bloom Omen 1,Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2,Defiance) , Prince of Persia (Sands of time, the warrior within, the 2 thrones) ,Max Payne 1 and 2, and I must be slipping my mind, but I've played over 100 games of this type.
Basically , I am looking for games with sequals, intense moments and excelent storyline ...
I am glad that HL2Ep2 added some climax for the game, seing as many fps lately are just about shoot first, shoot later.

So I guess anything that has a good storyline, and an interesting gameplay would do the trick...

BIOSHOCK hands down...best pc game I have ever played....only one that I have ever wanted to finish and did finish. The story is absolutely amazing and the voice acting keeps you hooked. I actually felt like I was living the game

As for gameplay, there are so many ways to do something that youll want to replay a certain part of it just to see the different ways you can get by.

I concur that Bioshock is an outstanding game.

The games you listed all seem to be third person action/adventure. If you for some reason don't enjoy FPS as much then Overlord would also be a good choice.

I'd say it's overwhelmingly in favor of bioshock, which I add my recommendation to the list.

First game since Halflife 2 i've finished all the way through. Thinking of going through it again next road trip.

definitely, TES:Oblivion is my favorite game right now, with all the expansions out for it, it offers a lot of gameplay and so much eyecandy that your eyes will die from the dosage. Age of Conan is set to come out march i think so if you wanna wait for that, or Fury.

Since you liked Max Payne and those other pretty dark adventures, you might also like F.E.A.R.. It definitely has some intense moments and the storyline is quite catching.

Ok,among those games that I have not mentioned, are of course FEAR and FEAR extraction point, and I've already started BioShock, although not being able to play it at maximum potential is kinda sad.
I was thinking something more in the line of Legacy of Kain , where a character is changed, goes through different things, and has a great story to tell. Yes , BioShock is impressing to say the least, but so far,and I've played over 3 hours , has nothing that could blow me away...Those whom have played Soul Reaver 1 and 2 should know exactly what I'm talking about...
Thanks for the input, I'll give BioShock a chance till the end :)

    Adventure game!?

Beyond Good and Evil, by far my favorite adventure game of all time, largely due to the atmosphere, storyline, characters, and soundtrack.

And yes, Bioshock was also fairly good, although BG&E had more of an impact on me.

Of course Silent Hill series 3 & 4 are amazing game, full of atmosphere and with excellent story and a mix of action, also i quote resident evil 4.
If you prefer third person action/stealth try hitman series (hitmanII, hitman contracts, hitman blood lines) splinter cell series or last two tomb raider(legend, anniversary)
If you like legacy of kain like me you'll love Vampire BloodLines! definetely a must :) great dark story, first and third person switchable, action and horror.Note that it's rated for mature for his crude language

May I then suggest "The Witcher"

Its an oblivion type rpg but I prefer it much better. The world portrayed in their is quite dark and much like our world. People have realistic problems and what not. The gampeplay and visuals are top notch as is the storyline.

The Witcher looks cool, but an RPG which I may play forever ,upgrading levels and buying armors and stuff is not that appealing..I mean, I still play Diablo 2 LOD and various MODs...
Vampire Bloodlines, my brother said he has the dvd..that's what I'm going to try :>
Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted if I find new names.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a fantastic game.

I second the recommendation for Beyond Good & Evil.

If you want to go a little old-school, Syberia is an unrivaled adventure game, with fantastic atmosphere and a gripping story-line.

    Regards,

    z.

I just bought Vampie: The Masquerade off of Steam and it really is quite fun! I recommend installing the unofficial 5.04 patch to clear up any game stopping bugs. Otherwise, it really is quite fun! It is a shame the game didn't do so well when it came out.

And thanks for the BG&E support!

    You want a good story?

The Witcher easily has the best story of any game i've ever played. Character customization isn't the main focus of the game so you won't have to worry about constantly upgrading your equipment as in Diablo. You can do it every once in awile though (i.e. I only changed swords four times and armor once the entire game).

The Witcher has a good story (in fact it's very plot-driven. the combat almost feels incidental). However, being a RPG type game, it may move a bit slower than you like considering the type of games you've played. It's also not an "end-less" RPG - you don't have infinite options to expand and whatnot - in fact as far as medieval-theme RPGs go, it's quite limited in the extra equipment, skills and whatnot you can get, so if being too broad turns you off, it's not a huge deal.

Keep in mind that TES: Oblivion is just the opposite. The entire world is pretty much a free-form world that you can explore and quest to your leisure (although there is a main plot should you choose to pursue it) - and you can sink hours, days, months into the sub-quests and maxing out your skills, attributes and levels without even touching the main plot, especially with the add-ons.

Syberia does have quite an interesting game-play. Keep in mind that the sequel, Syberia II, uses Starforce protection, and by now quite outdated ones at that--something to consider.

What about Fable? Start out as a child working your way through life and your actions in the game predict the outcome of your character, good or evil.

You could also look for Knights of the Old Republic 2, a really good game if you like the Stars Wars element.

I am thinking about buying F.E.A.R. Will my notebook (specifications in my signature) be able to play in on highest settings possible, stutter-free?

Propably quite close, yes. Atleast, if AA and Soft shadows are turned off. They are not needed anyway for the game to look great in-game.

If you're looking for adventure, my first recomandation would be Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. It has both Sci-Fi and fantasy elements and some action sequences. The game is very easy, and with alot of cutscenes. The story is absolutely great and very sad(it actually made me cry in the end). A very moving game.

Then, you can try The longest journey(the original), syberia 1&2 and, of course, kotor 1&2

I've finished The Longest Journey, and started the Dreamfall The Longest journey (2 or whatever)...however I am kinda dissapointed in the sequel for some reason. Nice of you to mention the name thought...I'll give it a go also, now smashing through BioShock, after you start saving/killing Little Sisters, the game starts to be more appealling...
Syberia, that is a name to consider, I must have the cd somewhere since I got it with a magazine as a gift a few years ago...
Thanks, that should keep me busy for a while :D
