I still have my original CDs from 1995. The mislabeled ones :p.

I just wish that game had widescreen support (its successor does) and supported resolutions over 640x480.

What would be more awesome is if LucasArts remade XW v TF with a modern engine.

Yeah an IL2 mod or any other decent flight sim game modded for it would be awesome.

I remember playing Balance of Power for the first time and it amazed me how [censored] huge the SSD (Super Star Destroyer, not Solid State Drive) was. And then playing X-Wing Alliance with the modded 17 km-long SSD. It took over a minute just to fly the length of that thing. And the trick in the single-player missions where if you d the B-Wing and disabled everything instead of destroying it, they wouldn't respawn.

I re-played the entire XvT Rebel and Imperial campaigns a few months out of boredom; the X-Wing and Descent series of games are probably my favorite games of all time. And Descent 3 with a 360 controller on a 55" TV is epic! The game fully supports it without the use of XPadder or similar, as long as you manually bind the buttons. No translating to keyboard shortcuts required.

I would definitely pay to see either series updated on a modern engine.

I'm with you. Their space combat simulators (X-Wing, Tie Fighter, X-Wing vs Tie Figther) are really the legacy Star Wars games I'd like to play again.

GOG's been dropping a bunch of hints on the frontpage:

    1. What game made you dream of the Stars?
    2. What game made monsters fear you?
    3. What game made you fear your past?
    4. What game made you go to the underworld?
    5. What game made you ride with the outlaws?
Looking forward to Full Throttle, TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and XvT - also Yoda Stories . I just hope all games aren't priced at 9.99. There are some LA games I wasn't interested back then, but would like to just give them a try if made available now.

X-Wing and Master of Orion (and of course, Doom) were the reason I bought a PC in 1995.

I preferred X-Wing: Alliance to XvT, but I never bought the Balance of Power expansion which I heard added a story to XvT. And XvT was still an incredible game (other than the unsightly logo for Holland's new game development company).

Hopefully, they'll also be offering up those LucasArts DOS adventure games. Full Throttle has already been mentioned. Day of the Tentacle would be worth a purchase, too. SCUMM was a brilliant interface at the time, but the interface and genre itself probably won't measure up to today's gaming experience. But the nostalgia would be worth it. I already have Full Throttle installed under DOSbox, but my Day of the Tentacle is the floppy version. CD enhanced would be great.

And I always liked Afterlife better than SimCity though I only ever played the demo. Afterlife would be a buy for me.

you realize that it is still considered one of the best games of all time, right? and when it came out in 2005 it was game of the year...

    ME1 was fun, but I hated ME2's shooting/weapon system...

Darn, they didn't announce the new publisher. I feel :(  Sorry for getting people's hopes up.

Apparently, two of the games they hinted at were Alone in the Dark 1-3 for 5.99 and The Witcher EE coming May 10, 2011. The other games hinted at will most likely be Atari published titles. The only info on the mystery publisher is it's one of EA, Microsoft, Square Enix, Take Two, or Lucasarts - also 25+ games being prepped and tested, and coming Summer 2011. Sorry again folks, going into the fetal position.

If you answered about KOTOR3 ... sure, on the best star wars games of all time and visually good (for an RPG of that genre), but definitely not in the best of best (where do we put Baldur's Gate or Never Winter Nights games? supreme games?).

Back on topic: I really hope the XvT or X-wing: Alliance games are re-released (and hopefully the mouse can be used again :D ).

this reminds me of tie fighter, rogue squadron...

x wing alliance is the one that you start piloting a corellian freighter? I loved that one, pretty hard to hit the empire soldiers with jet packs, now I need to read some star wars novels for the nostalgia!
