So does anyone here still play? I finally came back to this MMORPG after trying almsot all the mmo's there are to play out there. I found this one the best. You cant beat the storyline, gorgeous scenery, characters, awesome classes. The graphics are very up to date with added dx10 support and features. The community is awesome and very helpful too. New books for story and quests are always being added and the mines of moria expansion adds alot more to do. Plus an extension of the liscensing for the game has been extended till 2014-2016 so you know it will stick around. So who is currently playing or will get into this game? Im currently enrolled on brandywine server and it has a really high population of players.

sounds like an ad for the game lol

hahaha no AD here just saying it really is an amazing MMORPG.....if you like a faster paced class hunter is the way to go too...ive just been play many mmorpg'sand trying them out. Many mmorpg's require massie amount of times at once just to get something done. With lotro, you can play for 30min and get alot done, which is also why i like it because i never have time....not bragging abut lotro just saying of u love mmorpg's then give it a shot....i have buddy keys for 14days free for 4 people, so ask if you want to try it
-
no it gets boring like every other mmo after a while... i played since pre beta so 2 years after official launch I was worn out and quit.
-
the new warden class is awesome because you can solo a ton with it, they added a lot of nice things and the crafting system got alot better...its true every mmo gets boring the longest i play is maybe 6 months...but the most enjoyable IMO is lotro
-
I've sub'd to LotRO for about 9 months. I play a Warden approaching level 35. And yes I'm finding it rather tedious now as with any other MMO except for EVE which is always exciting. Other MMOs played have included WoW (on hiatus atm), Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, and Earth & Beyond (beta only). But overall I think LotRO is a great mmo.
-
meh i was not impressed by the warden / rune keeper tbh.. moria was a lot of lame too imo.
Good game, but its not what it was when it was released, its been....... turned toward the more mainstream and away from where it started as a game for true LOTR enthusiasts.
Oh well - they need more $$ i guess. -
I'm going to check out the trial. Would do it now but currently checking out Age of Conan, trial, which I'm really enjoying and no point in trying two MMO's at the same time. Looks like Funcom has spent some time fixing Conan, may subscribe.
-
I canceled my subscription, but after having looked around a bit I really miss playing. Gonna go home today and download the game (with all updates) so I can install it and play from work again.
I was driving some backwoods street and found a beautiful area here behind SB, first comment I made was "Looks like the Shire." This was when I realized how much I missed the game. -
Pm'ed Halogod
, never ever played an MMORPG, but I think this is the one I would try if I did.
-
ok PM'd u back a buddy key...i have one left for anyone who wants to play
-
Don't suppose they have a deal like Age of Conan where you come back for free for a limited period of time? Then I might give it another shot.
-
-
I tried it but never got into. I really liked the soundtrack, landscapes and all those things. DX10 looked gorgeous.
-
yeah the gameplay is better especially now that crafting has become good....I would rec all new players to play as a hunter first since they are the best damage dealers and solo very very well
-
-
Ill take a buddy key is you still have one?
-
I find it to be fun for a while but really bland. I also hate the class selection and the combat system is just so-so.
I'm playing the 2 week free trial on AoC (quit after the first month at launch) and I love the classes and combat system. I'm just scared that it's too little too late and that the populations are too low to have any fun when I get closer to the end-game. -
Well, I'm back on Brandywine, now a life time member. Look me up, Duhk (lvl.46 Hobbit Burg).
-
you paid lifetime 2+ years after release? interesting..... usually lifers are there from the start/beta imo.
-
I did play LOTR Online from the start and I'm regretting not having paid it when it was $199...
-
In 2 months playing most nights I am lvl 51 on my hunter. I went on my first Helegrod raid last night and killed a dragon. Got some Auroch boots on a pickup raid. How's that for awesome. I love this game.

Wow. I played LOTRO way back when it first came out for a few months and enjoyed it, and after reading this threat thought "I'll re-install it and give it another go." So I get home from work this morning, pop in the discs and install it, then leave it to patch at about 9:00 this morning. Woke up five hours later and it said it was about 700% complete updating the game data. Now, a couple of hours later, it's at -20% (yes, MINUS 20% done)!
Almost 8 hours of patching so far. At least the two good things are that they 1) don't make you re-activate your account before you can patch, so if it takes a couple of days of patching, you're not paying for those days, and 2) don't keep closing the program so that you have to manually re-start it with each patch. The last time I tried re-installing World of Warcraft that's what it was doing, so it actually did take a couple of days before it was all patched up.
Well, I'm hoping it's worth the wait! I remember enjoying it before, but don't remember why I stopped - probably another game that came out of something. Oh well, I just thought the percentages for the patching were kind of funny. -
Save yourself a headache, after the first couple of Book releases I just used the Turbine Download Manager to download the game, a lot more effective.
http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Turbine_Download_Manager
Think of it as a BitTorrent client for downloading updates to the game. The install discs make great coasters. -
-
Cool game, before subscribing to Conan I thought I would check out LOTRO because of the positive feedback and since with digital download and first month free it was so inexpensive. Couldn't figure out how to do the trial with an existing Turbine account. Guess I could have made a dummy account but wanted to keep my character if I enjoyed it, and well I have so good move on my part.

I'm thinking about trying this. Whats a good server to be on?
I played WoW from release pretty hardcore (slightly off and on) and quit when WOTLK launched. I tried to come back around Jan/Feb but lost interest quickly and hadn't played an MMO since. Now here lately I've been bored and some of my buddies have started playing WoW hardcore again, and I'm actually installing it as we speak. I'd like to get into something different, like LOTRO however. I tried EQ2 for a bit as well but couldn't get into it (I played EQOA back in the day), it just didn't feel as polished as I'd like. -

Not sure really. I pre-paid for 6 months @ the $10 offer. I think it will be lame if the price increases back to the original $15.
However, in a local Blockbuster I did see 60-day gamecards being sold for $20 so... -

Check it out. It's full pvp though, which I know is not for some.

Its a great game, really suprised at the graphics for an MMO, very epic. Just to much to worry about for me. Also I refuse to pay monthly fees for any MMO.

I played during closed beta and bought a lifetime membership immediately upon release. I have a lvl 60 hunter and warden, lvl 40 captain, lvl 30 champion and burglar and a lvl 15 minstel. Now I do not play constantly. I do get burned out on games so I only play a few times a week and I am starting to lvl up my lower lvl toons in order to have more play options. So far this MMO has kept me around longer than any other to date.
