Im just wondering if anyone has this? I've read about 6 reviews and they all seem to be great.
From what i gather alot of the game features are 'borrowed' from WoW and generally improved. Making the game alot better than WoW. I also see that the graphics are probally the best in any MMORPG ever.
I would just like to hear the opinions of people who have the game, and whether they think it's worth buying?
-
I have it and think it's great. Graphics are nice and smooth on high on my G1. Yes it did borrow some from WOW, which I don't mind as they took the good aspects of WOW for me.
I would say it's worth a buy, the community as a whole seems friendlier and more helpful than in WOW.
System in your sig should run it really well I would think!
Anyways my vote is it's a great game. Also in June they are releasing a new expansion/content update for FREE! Take that burning crusades!! -
Ye i hear they are going to be adding whole new realms to explore, that would make the world massive.
Im going to buy it tomorow, is it $9 a month ye? -
Not sure, when I got my copy I pre-ordered. Apparently if you pre-ordered you became a "founder" and pay like 9 bucks a month and got a couple goodie items.
Also founders have the option of buying a lifetime account for $199
From what I heard non-founders pay 12bucks instead of 9bucks. I could be wrong so double check but I believe this is how it works.
Also when/if you get the game i'm on the"brandywine" server under "yecind", but it sometimes has a waiting queue as it was one of the first servers.
Anyways have fun and enjoy! -
I could never see myself paying monthly for a game o.o
-
I've looked at this myself but the fact it's based around a book/film puts me off (all such games normally blow) + my one true love aka Football Manager 2007 requires a lot of my time...any free trials going?
-
MMORPG's are my passion. Got World of Warcraft, Lord of Rings Online and I think even an Ultima Online too for when I take a break from the other two.
Had a Vanguard going too up until last month. Vanguard looked some promising but disappointed me so.
Skippy Graphics on even high end machines
Alpha like bugs (falling through earth often)
Mapping system sucked
Also the characters just didn't feel "fluid"
But anyways Lord of the Rings is much like WOW but seems like more room to explore. -
Can't be a true MMO player unless you play the 'god' that is Diablo2 -
This game was announced long before the film was even a pipedream. i think this game was announced about 10 years ago.
Avoiding the game simply because it's based on tolkiens books (best fantasy books ever written) is completly rediculous, especially considering the fact (asumption) you havn't even read them. -
I've read all the 'classic' fantasy books ranging from Tolkien to David Eddings
-
Bought it a week later, about 2 weeks after beat on normal moved my way up to next difficulty.
Played Diablo 2 for about 4 years of 8 hours, beat the expansion (on all difficulties) and such had a lev 91 sorceress.
Then came World of Warcraft that took about 2 1/2 years from me. I play it now and then but the expansion kind'a lost my interest because I beat it in a week.
Now it's Lord of the Rings, so we'll see how long it takes me to max out, have a 23 minstrel (bard) right now so i'm taking my time -
For LOTRO being my first MMO, I'm just fascinated!
The feel of the game, as well as its 'authentic' feel are just astounding. I play the game on my old desktop, but I won't be for long since I just ordered and Asus F3T off newegg!
Catch me sometime on Meneldor. My character is Thorogdrim, a level 27 Champion -
anyway, i've just ordered it.
Im under the impression the servers are regional, if that is true, im in the uk. so i guess i wont be playing with anyone in this thread. -
ahh yes the lute music, cheats to do songs can be found by some googling...haven't tried it yet...
server being regional I am not sure as all my friends were on bradywine -
Yeah i know you can macro tunes, but thats gay.
You know when someones cheated if the song they are playing is absoloutley perfect.
or so im told -
The game should have came today
can't wait to play it.
Never really played an mmorpg before apart from phantasy star universe on the 360, but that got old pretty quick.
any people from EU here that play lotro? -
Im waiting for that two worlds game.
-
thats not an mmo btw, just 8 people co-op.
I've not heard many good things about it. Mostly negative. -
Super Nintendo 64-bit graphic'ed Dark Ages
The original EverQuest...
Dark Ages of Camelot
Shadowbane
Final Fantasy XI (BAH!)
World of Warcraft..
hmmm....besides UO, I'd like to think I've got a well-rounded background.
I played a demo/beta for LotR...mmm...I dunno...I didn't really invest any time into it....at all....but it just didn't hook me.
Maybe.....IF I ever get sick of WoW (cough) I'll buy it, then. -
I played the open beta and loved it. I was my first mmo and I had a good time while the trial was going (unfortunately I didn't have the $ at the time to pre-order and get the good price).
They did do a very good job with the environment though-there is soo much to do-and being a tolkien purest who points out the inaccuracies in the movies this was a dream come true-and I love dwarves which is a bonus. -
Idk im not getting it. From what I heard there are coming out with Warhammer online which will be awesome and Guild Wars 2 Is going to be the biggest hit next eyar.
-
well lotro has done better than wow in the first week of sales, so i think thats a sign of things to come.
I think it's definatley going to take the crown as number 1 mmo, it will take a while but it will happen.
wow has had it's day, it's getting old now.
