Hello hello. I have a rather strange predicament here. First of all this involves some desktop hardware, but I can't seem to get a perspective anywhere else on this issue.

I installed Lost Planet to my desktop which is WinXP only, so of course DX9 only. However, my Radeon 4670 1 GB DDR3 seems to struggle with the game even at a lowly resolution like 720p at max settings. The Geforce 9800M GS in my laptop comparatively doesn't struggle at all, hell I can push 1080p in DX9 and DX10 modes and get decent framerate at max settings w/o AA. Now yes, there are differences in the memory bus that could be involved with the issue, but I think it's negligible since every game I've tested on my Radeon 4670 runs better than my lappy's 9800M GS, especially higher resolutions (DX9 Crysis and Far Cry 2 run so much better on the Radeon 4670). Is it due to Lost Planet being Nvidia centric, or is there a DX9 related issue, and/or driver issue?

So basically I just wanted to know how you guys with mobile Radeon 4670 and even Radeon 4650, 3850, and 3870 cards have faired with LP in DX9 and even DX10, to know if it's in any way synonymous with my experience. Drivers are latest available for XP and I would appreciate any feedback. Desktop and lappy specs in the sig of course. Thanks in advance! :D

I had trouble running LP on my old G50vt back in the day, even at lowly 720p. It is weird that you mention it, but your 9800M GS should still be more powerful than the desktop Radeon HD4670. At the very least they should be on par, not noticeably different.

That beign said, I think the game is just rather badly optimized for non Nvidia hardware.

The 9800M GS does better in 3DMark06 by a good margin depending on the how far I OC the two cards, however in game performance is alot better with the Radeon 4670 in DX9 mode (OCing the memory from 800 to 900 MHz and the GPU from 750 to 800 MHz gives a really good boost to the card). I really wish I had Vista or Win 7 to test out it's DX10 capabilities, as I think that could be an issue with LP in DX9 on ATi cards. I do remember the 8800GTS 320 MB I had a long time ago running LP at 1440 x 900 with no problem at all, with 2x AA I think too still maintaining very good framerate.

The game actually runs quite a bit better in DX10 mode, try putting vista on your desktop.

I think i remember someone mentioning that the PC version was poorly optimized.

or windows 7... it is much faster and better than XP... XP is old and obsolete and worst of all looks crappy compared to windows 7..
