I'm going to try out the DX9 demo once I finished installing all my apps.

I have played both the DX9 and DX10 versions. Screenshots don't really give a good basis for comparison of the two versions. The environmental effects in the DX10 version are much better, but they still aren't as good as I might have hoped them to be though.

Yes exactly. I feel a bit happier now, knowing the fact that my laptop WILL last.

Keep in mind that DX10 doesn't magically make everything look better. It makes some things more efficient, which means lower requirements, which can be translated either into better graphics (sacrificing the regained performance), or just plain better performance.

Yeah, from what I've read DX10 is just more efficient than DX9

Hmm, if you both max out the settings with both Direct X 9 & 10, they both look identical. But, if you look closely, they Direct X 10 version has slightly more detail in the environment, and the whole thing in general. Don't get me wrong on that either... I've seen my friends play this game on Direct X 9 & 10. They both look similar, except one has slightly better graphics with environments( but, you can barely notice it, lol).

Yea, I don't think this demo shows the potential of DX10 well. It is still very immature and I am sure we will see better things in the near future! ;)
