    Hey guys.
    I have a new Clevo M571RU-U from Rizeon.com
    It has4gb ram 2.5ghz t9300 vista hp 64 and a 8800m GTX

I am using the 174.82 forceware drivers which have so far given the best results, but they are till onl around 8700. I am reading tat others are getting ove 9000 on the 3dMark06 tests.
I am wondering if there is anything I can do to figure out why? What settings ar others using to get these scores?

Also does readyboost help at all?

    Thanks

Every computer performs differently, even with the same specs. Readyboost wont help your setup at all. There is a chance that they ran the tests in a slightly lower res than you (eg. 1280 x 768 rather than 1280 x 800) or changed some settings in the nvidia control panel to boost performance?

A slightly lower 3Dmark 06 score wont noticably affect gaming performance anyway, & definatly not in your case ;)

Most of the high scores are cheated by driver settings and low level hardware settings.
So not even trying to compare my scores to those ones.

Oh ok. How many times have you ran 3Dmark06? Some of the 3d mark apps can give inconcistant results, mainly 05 but it wouldnt be unusual. Drivers and power management are ruled out then? Aside from that the cpu test could lower your score if you have some background apps running or maybe even vista aero?

its vista - your 3d mark score sounds about right, I had round 8900 with my setup.

jumping to xp i now get over 9000.

to improve your 3d mark score make sure you set your settings via the nvidia control panel to performanance and turn on all optimisations.

Check your power management. You get slightly better framerates when its set to max performance.

    Hi thanks for the replies!!
Yeah the CPU test sucks, 1 fps on it at most lol
Aero is running, but it turns itself off for games doesn't it?. I have power performance set to max as well.

    Thanks again!!

OK, THat score is right. Your laptop is not downclocking. Try .43 stock drivers. Be sure to optmize vista before doing the test.

    Yep,the score is normal.
Every computer is different, even the same type of hardware might perform slightly different.
Make sure you aren`t running too many apps in the background, google for some VIsta gaming optimisations , get SP1 and that should help.
    Nice setul btw!

Ok doing my nut now. I installed 174.74 and got underclocked gpu. So went back to old driver and still underclocked. Now I am back to stock 167.xx drivers.

This is rediculous!! When will nvidia start supporting thier own cards properly and not rely on vendors modifying and releasing thier own!!

Anyone else got around this as I want my 174.82 drivers back as they are the best so far :D

Have you tried running some internal bench marks like the ones in Crysis or game of your choice? I can understand the fascination with synthetic benchmarks, but, it this all that matters? :)

Not worried about bench marks. I know that the 167.xx and 169.xx driver are not as good on my set up as the 174.xx drivers from playing CoD4 and Hellgate London.
The trouble is all of a sudden all my cards clocks are running at half speed if I use non stock drivers. This was not happening before!!

I use the benchmark as I know how many fps I should be getting on the first part of the first test to know if the card is running properly. I also use gpu-z to monitor the clock speeds.

Tell you what, it gets stranger!!
If i install the new drivers, my clock goes back to normal as do my benchmarks. If I reboot, back to down clocked!!
