    Hi!!

    I have a mybook 1719 notebook(same hardware as msi gx700)
with a t7500 core duo cpu 2.2 ghz and 2 gb ram and a geforce 8600m gt 512 ddr2, vista premium

My prob is that it "only" score 2158 in 3dmark 2006. Don´t know if it´s okay but wonder since i have seen other notebooks with same hardware and vista score 2900-3500 in 3dmark at stock clock, i have tryid several different drivers but 2158 is max??

Is my score normal for that system or is there a prob...

    Thanks

Definitely not normal, I currently am on about 3200 (specs in sig) and trying for much more. What res did you run it in? If not 1280x1024, do it again with that res. to get a better result for comparing. Also, are you using Vista?

    Some considerations:
    - Some laptops are underclocked and/or have power saving modes
    - Windows is inherently slow with all the background processes, services etc. that are not needed for most users, this might help:

Hi Krt and thx for the fast reply..

I´m using vista premium edition not xp, i know vista slows the computer down but isn´t 1000 points a bit much...

The version of 3dmark i use is locked in 1280x854 because it´s the basic, free version. hmmm the score should be even better then?????

I have tryed closing as many background rutines i can(virus killer etc.)

Can vista be the hole problem???

Check your power options and make sure that it is on performance mode and you hook up ac adapter.

The 1280x800 res is a bit worrying. I recall a 15% difference b/w that and 1280x1024. Anyway, 3DMark is locked to the screen resolution so just temporarily change it thru control panel to 1280x1024.

Not that it won't make much difference but you might want to try the 169.xx beta drivers, I think it's at 169.04 now.

Have you checked if there is any power modes or profiles being used?

Also, how long since the last Vista install, I believe Vista runs slower in the first week or two while it learns your usage habits.

seems quite low, their 3500 sounds bout right

I have Dual SLi 8600M's at DDR2 on my toshiba notebook and I get 6500-6750 on 3dMark06 (SLi enabled) cant remember exact figures. This is with Toshibas stock drivers dated 13th of november (or september). still havent found the need to install 169.09 drivers... but I guess I will soon if need be, prob bump it to like 7000+.
