My 3d mark score was a little lower then I expected, would someone mind telling me if this is normal for my 5796 laptop, with the following spec:

    512mb 9800GT
    2gigs of DDR3 RAM 1066
    2.26 Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile 45nm
    Windows vista ultimate 64bit
    Nvidia driver 177.92

    3dmark score: P4704
    CPU score: 18531
    GPU score: 3767

Any further info would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah that does seem pretty low. It could be due to a number of reasons. Maybe try cleaning out your graphics drivers and then getting the latest ones from laptopvideo2go. Also, make sure your laptop is running in performance mode and not underclocking itself in a powersaving mode.

Is that a score of 4704? If so then yes that is about half what you should see. Are you on stock drivers? if so try removing them and replacing them with what aznofazns said.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies. Yes I am using Vantage, with the most current Nvidia drivers, and my power plan is high performance. I have run 3dmark again and I get the same score. Further help would be greatly appreciated.

I ran a benchmark for world in conflict and got the following result on 1400X900 with high detail.

    average 18 fps
    low: 6
    high 36

Lastly my device manager says my GPU is a G92 -600, I am hoping this is indeed a 9800gt and that my order was not messed up.

Run GPU-Z to find it out.

Thanks again for the replies, I apologize for the confusion about 3dmarks vantage. Here is the scores for 06

    8997 3dmarks

    - SM2.0= 4211
    - HDR/SM3.0= 4067
    - CPU Score= 2069

    @drfelip

Here are the results from GPU-Z I still can't make heads or tales out of it, and can't seem to find out if it species if my GPU is a 9800gt.

That's a normal score for 3dMark06. I'm not familiar with Vantage so I don't really know how particular cards perform on it, but P4704 still seems low to me. Also, are you running 3dMark06 at 1280x1024?

Thanks for the reply. I am indeed running 06 @ 1280X1024.

I'm still a little confused about the naming of my GPU, after typing G92-600 into google I was unable to found out much and if it is a 9800 gt. I apologize for asking this again, but I just want to make sure I received the correct GPU with my purchase.

Yes your GPU is in fact the 9800M GT. The Bandwidth of 51.2 Gb/s and presence of 96 unified shaders in GPUZ tells it all. Also I feel your 3D Mark06 score is perfectly OK.

It seems that your Vantage score is in fact normal based on something I read (I can't remember if it was an article or a forum thread).

    Ah thanks again.

Just curious, why is it that people use 3dmark 06 instead of vonage, esp. since it is more current?

Vantage requires a resolution of 1280x1024 to run a test at all, so people with resolutions lower than that can't even use it.
Thus, most notebooks on WXGA or WXGA+ resolutions use 3DMark06.

My card is a DX9 one. It won't even run Vantage.
