Hi there... First of all, let me start by saying. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this thread, it just seemed to be the best choice.

    Right... Here we go...

Ever since I bought a new laptop (around 7 - 9 months ago now I think), my FPS, while playing World of Warcraft has been in the bottom (around 6 - 9 FPS, and in some encounters it goes down to 1 FPS (while raiding... if some of you happen to know the game ;) ). Which brings the fun of the game to the floor.

When standing in a place with no players what so ever, in a place as simple as possible, my FPS goes to a maximum of 20 FPS. Now this is OK for me (Lower than what it should be, and much lower than what the friends of mine are running with), but I can't keep being at places where no players are, if you know what I mean :p .

Having said this, here's some detail about the system I run with:
(Keep in mind I don't know all that much about computers, so this might seem abit silly to some of you, the way I write this and the way I set it up, also I have to translate it to from Danish to English...)

    I run a ASPIRE 7220 from ACER.

My Windows Experience Index is as follows:

    • Processor: Calculations pr. second - 4.1
    • Memory (RAM): Memory actions pr. second - 4.9
    • Graphic: Computer performance for Windows Aero - 3.4
    • Game graphic: 3D enterprise- and game graphic performance - 3.0
    • Primary hard disc: Disc transference speed - 4.8

My processor runs as: Mobile AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3600+ 2.00GHz.

    Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB.

    System type: 32-bit operativsystem.

My graphic card is as follows:

Card type: NVIDIA GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M.

    Chip-Type: GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M.

    DAC-Type: Integrated RAMDAC.

    Card string: GeForce 7000m / nForce 610M.

    Bios-Information: Version 5.67.32.14.8

Gathered available graphic memory: 895 MB.

    Dedicated screen-card-memory: 256 MB.

    Systems Screen-Card-Memory: 0 MB.

    Shared system-memory: 639 MB.

    My screen:

    Screen Updating speed: 60 Hertz.

    Resolution: 1024 x 768,

    Highest Resolution: 1440 x 900.

    My download bandwidth is: [IMG]

I know this is a wall of text... Although I've been fighting against this problem for a very long time now... and any reply would be appreciated... Is this problem fixable? Do I need to update something? Change something? Anything?

    Thank you.

Just a shot in the dark, but i'd think "Card type: NVIDIA GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M." is the problem. Try turning down the resolution of wow if its above like 1024x768 while playing.

yup, the videocard is the main bottleneck there... its a low end integrated card.

you must bring the down resolution to near 800x600 and disable all eye-candy to be able to play the game with decent framerates.

It's definitely the chipset - my wife has a 7520 which has the same chipset though has the Athlon rather than the Sempron procesor. She can get 25fps max, as long as she has ever settings on minimum with the res at 1280x768 (I think thats the res, it's 1280 wide) and all the "may increase performance" options selected. Raiding is not an option, outside the auctionhouse in Stormwind is 10fps max.

agreed, the GPU if you can call it a GPU is not meant for gaming at all, lower all of the games settings and make sure anti aliasing is OFF

Thanks for the replys.. Seems all of you say it's the videocard (or the chipset). Is this anything that can be changed? Always thought it was... Is it easy to change? Do I need to get a "mechanic" to change it if I don't know how? Is the chipset (the reply from AndrewM) a part of the videocard? Does the chipset problem go under the videocard problem? If I change the videocard, do I need to change the chipset too, or is it in the videocard? Is it possible to only change the chipset? Is it even possible the change the videocard? And to what should I be changing it to, to get a high FPS preformance, where I don't need to have the lowest resolution etc?

Alot of questions... yes... But as said... I don't rly know all that much about my computer...

    Thank you.
