I recently got a G1S-A1 with 4GB of total memory. Vista Premium itself only recognizes 3GB of that memory. However, it is the the amount of SHARED memory that the 8600M GT is using that concerns me. Initially, it was using 1256 MB of SHARED MEMORY. (Wasn't it's Turbocache only for 512MB?!)
When I tested it out using graphics benchmarks, the system scored significantly lower than expected. After some consulting, it seems that huge amount of slower shared memory Turbocache uses is the problem. So, I tried to disable it with Rivatuner. ... Unfortunately, it still uses 767 MB of SHARED MEMORY.
So once again I need some consulting -- that why I'm turning to you great tech-savvy people. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

what graphics benchmarks at what resolution and with what result?

The tests were run at 1280 x 1024 (default settings that can't be changed in the free versions).
The scores that I got were:
05: 1800... something is seriously wrong.
06: 3250 (Average value of G1S is 3800 ish).
I already removed all the bloatware, ran optimizations on the system and disabled most start up things through msconfig. So yeah, the performance on 05 was absolutely horrifying. 06 was way below average too. -
What, you think the card decides specifically to lower performance?
Sounds a bit unlikely to me. The reason it uses shared memory is that it's better than no memory at all.
Also, 3d Mark is not a reliable measure of performance. -

Microsoft has a hotfix for Vista that changes how memory is managed. I don't know if it will effect how shared memory is deligated, but you might want to give it a shot. Instructions on how to get the patch/fix are located at the link below:
