I was wondering what the minimum mobile GPU would be tu run maximum detail without AA for STALKER Call of Pripyat using the Complete mod.

This is honestly the most graphically intensive game I care to play so I am debating either getting a laptop with the minimum GPU possible to max the detail without AA or just getting a moderate laptop with an i5-3210M/HD4000 and using an eGpu.

Please do not post opinion, I am only looking for replies from people with personal experience.

I just finished CoP with complete mod on a 5870m a few weeks back. It was maxed, dx11, 1080p, 0xAA and I got around 35-45 fps on average if i remember right. Emissions killed the fps down to the 20's though, but since you can't do much outside during one and they only last a minute, it was ok. I'd say it performed right on the line where I was considering turning down some things for a few extra fps, but utltimately did not.

The 5870m is probably somewhere close to a 650m these days so I would shoot for that. You can probably squeeze by with a 640m if you're more tolerant of fps in the 30-40 range. Anything low 30's and under looks real choppy to me and gives me a headache, but some people can game on it just fine. I'm sure a 640m could do 1080p with great frames if you're willing to turn down some of the fancier eye candy.

I would aim for a 660M or a 675MX. Either one of those should suit you fine. You won't be able to max out with all the fancy AA now. But most post processing aren't too taxing like SMAA, various types of bloom, HDR etc. Where you'll run into issues is with high dynamic shadow detail with ambient occlusion.
