If I can find one for about ~$500 used?
I'm trying to find something in the $500 price range that can game and is between 11-14" and thin. Everything else I seem to look at with around the same performance is $800+.

Yeah, I'd do it. It's a nice little computer for everyday use. I had an r1 for a while and enjoyed it.
-
If you can find one new or refurbed for $500 it's one helluva deal. Otherwise you can get a stock Clevo W110ER / Sager NP6110 for under $800 and it's at least twice the performance. (i5-3230m / GT 650m)
I have to say though I had an r1 for a while and loved the little thing. If they offered an R4 with comparable specs to the Sager I most likely may have opted for the AW. -
Where can you get a NP6110 for under $800? I keep seeing it for around $900, before taxes and I can't seem to find a used one.

Sager NP6110 / Clevo W110ER Custom Laptop
here for example -
Xoticpc has them starting at $783

well, that will get a 7% sales tax in bloody jersey.. (no idea whats the situation in Arizona) still, I would consider an 850 bucks np6110 a catch
-
Unfortunately that doesn't include the price for an operating system, which bumps it back up to $900. I surprisingly don't have a copy of windows 7/8 laying around.
-
Didn't your m18x come with windows? Use it bro.. (you can install it as many machines as you personally use)
-
Found my cd packed away in some boxes. Does the 6110 come with a disc drive?

I was being offered a m11x r3 for 700-800$ ....I honestly don't feel it's justified for m11x to be sold at that price considering you can get a new clevo w110er / sager np6110 for $783 and some of us don't need an OS ... so that's the final price .... what do you guys think ?

Eh, dual core SandyBridge ULV + GT 540m (used or refurbed I'm assuming) vs new full dual or quad Ivy + GT 650m for about same price? Decision is easy. Clevo all the way, and at < $1000 with quad core + windows, more than worth it. But I'm sure if you email/PM the Sager resellers they might be able to knock $20-30 off too. I think an M11x R3 in great condition is worth $500 max as long as you understand the performance constraints.
M11x:
i7-2617M = 1.5GHz - 2.5GHz peak boost, 2 core + hyperthread
540m = 96 pipes, 672MHz
3DMark 11 = 900
Clevo W110ER:
i5-3230M = 2.6GHz - 3.2GHz peak boost, 2 core + hyperthread
...... OR ......
i7-3630QM = 2.4GHz - 3.4GHz peak boost, 4 core + hyperthread
650m = 384 pipes, 850MHz
3DMark 11 = 2300
Plus Throttlestop + Prema's BIOS mods for overclocks achieving over 3DMark 11 of 3000+ -

Yeah, I'd only get one if it were cheap and still had a bunch of warranty+accidental left on it... The Clevo is a better deal for sure. The M14x isn't a bad choice either if you can find a cheap r2 with a 900p screen.
-
Otherwise just wait a couple months and get the Clevo W230ST/QT. It will blow away anything 14" and under and even many 15" 'gaming' notebooks. -

AFAIK OEM licenses are actually tied to the machine, so if you build another one, you cant use that OEM license, and necessarily it gets tied to the mobo itself, which if for example you change the mobo, you just give MS a call and they usually allow for the validation to proceed
