Hi!
Im planning on buying the m1330 in less than 2 months. Ill be taking it to university and things like that. However, i'll also like to use it for gaming purposes.
The games i'll be playing will be the following:
Rome total War
Lock ON
Pacific Fighters
Armed Assault
PES 6
Brothers in arms (including upcoming one)
Medieval 2 total war
I would be very happy if I could play these games at 1024x768 (maybe the new Brothers in arms at 800x600) and high-med graphics quality with some AA and AF, and still get 35fps or up.
Remember the graphics card is a 8400GS, the processor will be a Core 2 duo, 2ghz and 2gigs of RAM.
thanks a lot![]()
come on! lets write an answer!!

Few, apart from those who worked on developing the 8400gs, know how well that graphics card performs in real gaming. Even fewer know how the amount of RAM or CPU speed will affect it.
However, that card should be enough to play some of those games (the older ones) at medium to high settings once the proper drivers are written.
If playing those games at those settings is integral to your happiness you should look at either an older, better known graphics card from the 7xxx series or just get a much faster card altogether.
If you haven't bought the m1330 yet you're in for a long wait... -
I would get no less than a 8400GT/8600GS for gaming purposes. 8400GS might be good for older games (2+years)

ZZzzz.. im tired of people putting the Go 8400GS down, saying stuff like it can only play games that are 2 years old.. when in fact its not really that bad. It may be able to play most games at med-high, but with shadows and AA off, cos those are GPU killers. Anyway no one really knows for sure, but heres a report from cnet's review-
"The Nvidia GeForce Go 8400 isn't the fastest laptop GPU out there, but it's at the upper end of what you can find outside of 17-inch desktop replacement systems. We got a very playable 33.3 frames per second in Quake 4 at 1,024x768, even with high-end options such as antialiasing turned on, meaning the XPS M1330 has decent gaming chops, as long as your expectations are reasonable."

Thanks for your answers
I am at a summer school at the moment, and the school firewall prevents me from entering sites like ubi games forums. I would be very glad if you could tell me how do you think the upcoming "Storm of War: Battle of Britain" (from creators of Pacific Fighters and Il2 Sturmovik) would run on the m1330 with the following specs:
Core 2 Duo, 2Ghz
2Ghz of RAM
160 5400RPM HD
nVidia 8400 GS
im really thankful for your help -
i need your help!!! please read the above post

My computer with 1.5 gig RAM and nvidia 6800 gets a 3dmark06 score of about 1200, and can play CS:S on all high settings (no AA) and BF2 on medium settings. AFAIK, the 8400 gs got about a 1400 on 3dmark06, so it should do about the same (roughly).
Then again, CS:S runs like a dream on a lot of systems, so I dunno. -
thanks!
i dont really like CS:S because my internet connection (I live in the countryside and internet is so ****in slow!!!)
anyway, what about "Storm of War: Battle of Britain"?
how do you think it may run on the M1330?
here are some pics of the game
thank you! -
helloooo??? anybody alive??

I think you should be cool as long as you don't try to max everything out... I play games like Civ IV and "Sid Meier's Pirates!", and World of Warcraft all the time on my laptop (With pretty high settings), and I have a laughable Intel GMA 900 with a 1.6ghz Celeron M!
I too will probably be ordering a M1330 soon... although I'll probably wait a couple of months until the initial backlog of orders clears (And until I get some more money). I don't like ordering when there's a huge wait, as (knowing Dell) some cool deal inevitably rolls up two days before your computer ships....
I like the way it's fairly thin and light, with enough gaming chop to play during those slow times at Uni. -
thanks ChanchoWancho (eres español?)
anyway, does anybody know "Storm of War:Battle of Britain"? That is the game that ill probably use most when it comes out...
how would it run on the M1330?
thanks!
M1330... ready for games?
